The home team players were blessed with generous bouts of choicest of expletives for every lil mistake and I am sure it reached their ears. I just see SLFC fans coming with their GFs and wives and kids. I wonder whether Kolkata Maidan will ever witness such pleasant scenes. Its SICK!

Slangs can never be a reason to turn away female fans. What makes you think slangs are used in Kolkata grounds only...if you want I can site hundreds of chants used in English grounds which directly use the f word multiple times. These chants are sung by hundreds of fans (both male and female) together during a game. Same goes for Italy where ultras often used racist chants to rile up opponent players. Eric Cantona went in stands to kick a fan who directed racist chants at him and abused him. Fans in Aberdeen specifically use chants to mock any long term injuries of opponent players. Football is a dirty game and fans are no different, live with it. Dont play dumb.
There is a general lack of football awareness among Indian women which is why they dont come to watch games. SLFC is a 8 month old club which is enjoying new found fan support. They are also subtly playing the anti China pro-Tibet card to woo local immigrants. PFC's crowds have steadily decreased this season after initial surge. Lets not pass judgements after one season.
Under these circumstances, it’s important that Mohun Bagan officials let the coach do his job independently. Kolkata football officials are infamous for their interference with coaching duties and a high profile coach such as Darby will never tolerate these things. Steve Darby is a proven coach and he would need some time to get acclimatized to Indian football. The countries where he has coached till now usually had better facilities than those he will get at Mohun Bagan. The officials as well as Mohun Bagan’s huge fan base need to be patient with Darby in the first few months. He is sure to bring results once he gets adequate time.
What is an Australian coach; Anjan Mitra and his insane lot know better. We in MB believe in result only. And we are in a hurry, we cannot go on without trophies for long, we will give just 3 months to this man – if he is such a big shot, he should show results within this time. And don’t cry hoarse on facilities, we are a century-old club, even in last century we didn’t care about such nonsense yet won CFL numerous times. And remember, we don’t believe in youth development as well. We think that is utter wastage of money and effort (we bagged Odafa, didn’t we? So why bother). We prefer to spend that money by celebrating MB Day. Man, what fireworks!!
At the end of the day trophy matters.I don't see any harm bringing in Steve Darby and Odafa as long as it improves the performance of the club.Each and every club in the world wants to have trophies to their kitty.One of the reasons for Mahindra,JCT pull out is their dry runin national level tournaments.Even PFC had very less attendance in all their home matches last season.I agree to your point regarding infrastructure building.But do not agree with youth development.Mohun Bagan probably one of the few teams who participated in U-19 I league with all home grown players.Vasum,fela,Souvik,tirthankar,parminder,Dibendu are notable products of MBSFA.It is very easy to criticize anything and everything under the sun but in reality it is very hard to run a club with limited resources.Hope you understand.No hard feelings.
a few barren season can be forgotten by the fans if they focus on infrastructure. i agree that the sail academy is one of the best as there are a precious few of them. a small budget should not be a worry if well managed. e.g. pune fc instead of spending big on a single player a better squad could have been built which could prove handy because of their long season as well as their challenge for a trophy.

You can't compare Getafe with Real Madrid or Barca.Same way with all due respect to PFC, clubs like MB,EB with huge fan base can't afford a low budget team and falter.They are trophy oriented club.The only problem in team building process is that the recruiters are not educated enough to build a balanced team.I wish kolkata clubs pay attention to this fact and select the team based on inputs from coach/TD.

As both FIFA and AFC have recognised, so many people, so much talent, but the key to long term success is great facilities, infrastructure and quality future development programs such as the Indian Arrows scheme of things. People should try and visit Melwood (Liverpool), Carrington (Man Utd) or the aspiration in Qatar and see the quality of training facilities. It takes financial investment and long term programs to get success and I reckon Japan to be an excellent Asian model.
