    Not completely correct

The executive committee has taken this decision and now they will request QEBFC chairman Ajit Isaac to consider the decision of playing the Super cup and the ISL

Club faction hopes QEBFC chairman Ajit Isaac will respond to their request in the next 48 hours...

The East Bengal club will request Quess East Bengal FC (QEBFC) chairman Ajit Isaac to consider the decision to play both the Super Cup and the ISL after their executive committe meeting on Monday.

There was no solid ground broken in the meeting called to discuss the modus operandi following a letter from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) addressed to the club asking to clear their stance on participation in both the tournaments.

QEBFC, under which the football team operates is a 70-30 joint venture between investors Quess Corp and East Bengal. QEBFC had sided with the union of seven clubs deciding against participating in the current edition of the Super Cup citing ideological difference with the AIFF.

However, last week, club General Secretary Kalyan Majumdar had issued a contrasting statement, intending the team to play the tournament in Bhubaneshwar.

Executive committee member Debabrata 'Nitu' Sarkar confirmed, "In today's meeting we have unanimously decided to take part in ISL and Super Cup. We will send a letter to our chairman Ajit Isaac to convey our decision so that he can consider."

He continued, "At present we have several requests from former players and fans who want the club to play in these tournaments. We will request him to come and hold a meeting with us and discuss the issue. Hopefully they will respond within 48 hours."

I don't know why but I am getting a gut feeling that this EB-Quess drama is a pre-planned move before the stab in the back.

With 100th year approaching, neither Quess or the bloody club officials can afford to piss off the fans. You can make your own conclusions. However, EB will not join ISL unless it's accorded the top tier status, that's a given! FSDL couldn't convince Quess if that's gonna happen and thereby the dilemma.

It doesn't make any sense to pay 15 crores to join a cup competition.. AIFF is desperate though to have EB

Can't blame the fans. The way ileague has been treated by FSDL, what's the point of spending money in there in a realistic way? Terrible TV coverage, no marketing, no promotions, how does a club make money in that kind of atmosphere? It's not that it's gonna change either. EB fans rank and file has given up on ileague and rightly so. AIFF is just a rubber stamp body now, they are not even in the equation. Quess will do itself a big favour if they understand that quickly. It's a tricky situation. I would want EB to dump ileague just like BFC and move into ISL or an unified league.
