@jitug1979 Not only from other parts of india, genuine talent at u13  from Northeast will also miss out on development... These u19 will play against u13, win and then never improve.... their career is gone and so is others... having played for india, they will get government jobs... thats it....

Age fraud is a big business... All junior coaches thrive in that..... they all knew this happening.. by the time, Isac Doru learns this and do something, we would have sacked him for non-performance....

@EastBengalPride /@Siv ; - yes Age fraud is an old malaise. Especially in the u13 levels as most of the kids do not have proper paper work and all go by word of mouth. I think AIFF is using bone test for determining ages after certain level as it is expensive I guess. What else could be done to deter these types of issues? How else could AIFF enforce this age verification?

@Kool ; bone tests are mandatory from this youth ileague season

baby leagues with age recording in CRS database is the solution,,,

but the problem is youth coach's attitude and honesty, who want to have over-aged plyrs in their team, so that they can win... until then nothing will change...

last time in u15 tour to europe, they had a u18 as captain... that guy played in mizo prem league and had his age recorded in AIFF CRS... but these youth coaches and aiff did not verify it in CRS before sending them to europe...now that guy is playing for bfc reserves without any sanctions on him for age-fraud....

@SIV - they should educate the club coaches and penalize the clubs for repeat offenses including penalties so they do not try this in future. Individually clubs should be made responsible to verify the birth certificates and provide a copy to AIFF for future reference. This has to happen, right when the kids joins for the first time in an academy. Once it is in the system we can cross-reference. AIFF should look into this aspect and stream line the process.

Siv - I do see lot of youth and grass root level activities and developments happening in and around Chennai. How is the competition model in Chennai area for age group teams? AIFF has been pressing for tamilnadu to have a state level league for every age group. Is there any effort made by TN association in this regard in organizing the league tournaments?. Are they doing enough to spread the game in the inner regions of tamilnadu in terms of infrastructure and coaching facilities etc.

While it's true that north eastern teams have a few older kids, it's not even close to what Delhi and Punjab throw. Shifaratis and over age jatts dominate in every sport.

North East winning junior competition is not only because of age fraud, they do have the talent to pull it off. They have consistently produced quality players.

After being caught earlier few years back I doubt this Meghalaya team would have been overage..Every player looked so young and not even fully developed as a football player

In general - now that club licensing is in place, it is easy to put the process in place. Add a clause saying any age fraud will be subject to termination of contract and cancellation of license for the club and the entire coaching staff for 2 years. Once they identify one incident and implement this, automatically the fraud will become almost nil. For example how they trapped Ben Johnson for drug use(a big fish) caught in the biggest of the stages and treated like a criminal(even though there were many doing it at that time). This sends the right message and brings that discipline. Also see how Russia is being treated like a drug lord now - very bad for the reputation and difficult to come back up to international levels. But someone needs to take this up and educate for a year and then do this one big fish on the pond.

More over we need to bring this under control soon, as there are a lot of foreign clubs and big ticket clubs entering this age group category. Also we are beginning to do well in U16 AFC etc we need to make sure the product line is clean before getting caught by the officials in a big tournament and embarrass ourselves. Once at 14 a compulsory bone test result should be produced by the parents if their kid needs to be part of the club. This will stream line the entire process. Letting is continue does so much damage to the really hard working genuine players.
