Lol. They have made losses with the sports channels. The Champions league cost was way to high to recover money in Indian market. They should instead focus on Indian football and develop this property. With a little investment they can make huge gains
I doubt they would care if they are overall making money. However, it is messed up. If I remember correctly without checking, TEN Action really only hold the rights of the Champions League and Ligue 1 while the Premier League and Serie A are with Star Sports. The Premier League is the jewel everyone wants. The Champions League is great as well but it is only a 2 round a month tournament while the Premier League is a whole, 10-month weekly event from the most popular league in the world.
It would be interesting if Zee were to drop the Champions League because that would really just leave them with Ligue 1 (which I dount anyone watches other than PSG or Monaco) and I-League.
For I-League I doubt this would help as how can Zee/TEN advertise the league if no one watches the channel in the first-place. I would much rather the league be with Star Sports (who have already promised to bling the HIL) but that is a dream for now.
@arsenalfan700 The Star Network and its new policy has made everyone furious.... with repeated telecast of the same show and no telcast of live events(read sports other than cricket).... you sure you want them
Did not know where to post this so I decided to put it here because this move could lead to benefits for Indian football in the future. There is interest in India in football!!!
There is interest in indian money , benefits to india football from this is far fetched..if this deal goes through it will be the third after Venkys and Appolo tyres.. Benefits we will see if any will only be a rash of statements like talent ,academy's, exchange trips which we all know don't really help us...
But yes good to see EPL clubs looking to India though only for sponsorship..
