    I wish HAL and Arrows are relegated,Sorry to say but I hate this Arrows thing in I-League despite its talent development it offers nothing to the league in terms of finance or fanfare.
    there was never gonna be any fan support for arrows in kolkatta as they already have better teams who have huge fan base and performing much better than their previous edition and also the inclusion of jct left-outs have just spoiled their basic idea of nurturing talents ,,,...
    as far as finance goes, except the kolkatta clubs and may be pune, rest could hardly get even 1/4th of the money they put...so there is no scope for profit in the current club scenario as they hardly even know how to run a commercial football club.....

    "Current Club scenario" man dont talk about it,going that way I would wish that all I-League clubs are relegated.They are just too slow in improving themselves which really puts Indian football backwards.
    yea we should hope aiff get a new format of league with owners who are interested in putting money not only on players but also on fan development and youth structure too....or make the present clubs forced to do it...

    salgoacar already on 25 points at midway stage.

    i was amazed at some on this forum talking abt salgaocar relegation.

    With a coach like karim and the set of players they have,relgation thoughts are immature

    Statistics tell a true story

    Average points tally in I-league for past 4 seasons :

    Champions 54 points , Dempo, East Bengal & Churchill are all half way to that points total at the half way stage. The Champions will certainly come from one of these 3 teams.

    As for the relegation , the Average points needed to avoid relegation are above 24 POINTS
    but with the addition of the Arrows to skew the figures

    Teams might need above 26 to survive the drop this season.
    HAL would need to average 2 points per game to avoid the drop in the 2nd Leg !!
    ( that's a win & draw sequence for every two games !! )
    Chirag Kerela would need to average almost 1.5 points per game in the 2nd Leg
    ( they need to win every other game )
    Mumbai FC, Sporting Club de Goa, & then Salgaocar , Shillong Lajong need 5 & 4 wins respectively to assure themselves another year in the top division.

    Today's game ares crucial to the final relegation battle.
    As head to head is the 1st criteria:
    Salgaocar vs Shillong Lajong
    Mumbai FC vs Chirag United Kerela
    HAL vs Sporting Club de Goa

    All these games are effectively "6 point" games.

    Due to the strange schedule where the 2nd leg begins with match # 21out of 26 games, the relegation places could be confirmed by that point in the season.
    <!-- s:bow-plusone: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/bow/plusone.gif" alt=":bow-plusone:" title="PlusOne" /><!-- s:bow-plusone: --> good analysis ....but have to say the relegation battle is not that interesting as in the last couple of seasons or so.....but the championship battle is so far been interesting to follow....

    With Shillong Lajong , Sporting CLub de Goa & Air India crossing the 'magical' 26 point figure , the relegation battle has become a 2 horse race.
    With HAL failing to hold on to their 1-0 lead against Churchill Brothers, they are almost certainly relegated. They would have to win at least 5 of the 6 remaining games to stand even a mathematical chance.
    Chirag Kerela need to win today vs. Air India and win their game in hand vs. Arrows to draw level with Mumbai FC, this could go down to the wire as they face each other on the last day of the season.
    Mumbai FC have 2 tough away matches vs. Prayag & East Bengal and then a potential banana skin with Shillong Lajong at Pune. They do however have a nice run in towards the end of the season , facing Pailan, HAL and needing with Chirag Kerela.

    Would be nice for Kerela to stay up as otherwise this would mean the demise of South Indian clubs , especially as those in the 2nd Division are struggling to win games too.

    ~~~~~~~
    As for the title , Dempo should move to 43 points after the Pailan game , and 4 more wins from the last 6 games should ensure the title is theirs.
    If Mumbai can play the way they did against Mohun Bagan I can see them staying up. They need to work on there first touch. They can pass well but when a player on Mumbai gets the ball the ball rolls 2 feet forward. The players need to learn to contain the ball.
    I see it being Chirag and HAL in the end. Air India should win today.
    Chirag Kerela's 3-1 away victory has given them a major life-line in the battle to survive.
    If they can win their game in hand, then they should be level with MFC :
    #21 CUK vs LAJ ~~~~~PUS vs MFC
    #22 CUK vs PFC~~~~~~KEB vs MFC
    #23 CB vs CUK ~~~~~~ MFC vs LAJ
    #24 SAL vs CUK ~~~~~~MFC vs PA
    #25 KEB vs CUK ~~~~~~ HAL vs MFC
    #26 CUK vs MFC !!!
    both teams face East Bengal away and Lajong at home . With East Bengal's AFC commitments, a surprise result isn't out of the question here.
    Given Mumbai FC have HAL & Pailan, its safe to assume they will pick up at least 6 points at the end of the season.
    Chirag Kerela's run in looks very difficult now
    Mumbai realistically could be 6-8 points ahead of Chirag by the time the whistle blows on gameday 26.
    Come on Mumbai FC! You can do it.
    my prediction for these rounds would look like
    #21 CUK vs LAJ (1-3pt)~~PUS vs MFC (1-3 pt)
    #22 CUK vs PFC(0-1 pt)~~~KEB vs MFC(0-1 pt)
    #23 CB vs CUK (0-1 pt)~~~~ MFC vs LAJ(1-3 pt)
    #24 SAL vs CUK (0-1 pt)~~~MFC vs PA(3 pt)
    #25 KEB vs CUK(0-1 pt)~~~ HAL vs MFC(3 pt)
    a postponed matched between CUK vs PA (3 pt)
    by this time cuk might get points around 4-10 points and mfc might get points around 6-13 points which would mean even in worst case scenario mfc would have a much better chance to survive the league unless cuk pulls of some surprises and put mumbai fc under tremendous pressure
    #26 CUK vs MFC (might be a draw)
    MFC 7 points clear of CUK but CUK has extra games and the final will be CUK vs MFC...so to make the game interesting CUK has to manage 4 points - Opponents being arrows and salgaocar
