Once he told me Baichung signing for East Bengal nd starting his career there nd Sunil signing for Mohun Bagan is example youth development by Kolkata clubs
Its the ISL that has to be merged into the I-League and not the other way round as the AFC and FIFA rules can be fulfilled this way. Privatization cannot be there. Therefore, I-League will be re-branded to ISL and will include top clubs from I-League and some clubs from ISL(as clubs like delhi, neutd may not be able to sustain as said by gaffertape). We might start with 10-12 clubs. IMG will be the organizers (executors) of the league. Not the owners as the league would then be jointly run by AIFF and IMG with AIFF having major control over the league's running. But, IMG will plant their men in AIFF so that things actually work the way they want them to keeping in mind the rules. This is my best guess.
Privatization cannot be there?? Bring on the ONGC's and HAL's!!
But seriously who cares what the new league will be called as long as its a one league and all the Positives from the ISL including best franchises and Best I-league teams can be combined.
By privatization I mean that IMG cannot own the league. The league may be run by the clubs themselves being a stake holder. But, some third party entity cannot own the league. I guess this is what the rules state. Unless, the league is owned by the clubs themselves
Coolgagan, Refer my post in the one nation one league thread. Am sure AIFF or an entity on its own called I-league will manage the league.. However it will be useless as Sponsership & TV rights will be controlled by IMG & Star.
So it will qualify from a AFC criteria perspective but the moolah and power will still be the above two.
Check out the power of SKY in UK with the way they actually control the footballing calendar there.
