ISL Week 7 Discussion Thread

Week 3 had to end eventually. After four weeks of being lazy I decided I can do this thread finally. We enter Week 7 and things are starting to heat up in the Indian Super League. The top 4 currently consist of Delhi Dynamos, Kerala Blasters, Mumbai City, and Atletico de Kolkata while Pune City, Chennaiyin, NorthEast United, and Goa remain on the outside. However, there are only 6 points that split 1st from 8th and with 4-6 games left, anything can happen.

The first match this week will be big one. The on-form leaders of the ISL, Delhi Dynamos, take on Atletico de Kolkata. For Delhi, this will a chance to further their finals chances and increase their lead at the top of the table while for ATK this will be a crucial fixture. Currently tied on points with Pune City, ATK have a game advantage on the Maharashtra side and will be hoping to use that to good use tomorrow against the North Indian side.

Monday sees the ISL take a break before we return on Tuesday with Chennaiyin hoping a return to the Marina Arena will see their form change as well but what will be trying to stop them will be a desperate Pune City. Depending on what happens on Sunday in Delhi, Pune City will come out guns blazing as a victory could bring them into the top 4. Chennaiyin are also not out of it, 2 points off a finals spot.

The midweek fixture will feature last place FC Goa take on Mumbai City. Zico's men, despite their position in the table, will be entering this match on a high. Victory on Friday, starting 9 Indian players, over NorthEast United, gives the Goans hope that a finals appearence is still possible. Mumbai City on the other hand will be keep ground on Delhi Dynamos and strengthen the chances of them making the finals for the first time in their history. Defeat in their last match to Pune City at home will see Mumbai more eager to change the tide.

On Thursday we will see Atletico de Kolkata return against a well off-form NorthEast United. Vingada's men are currently suffering from 4 straight losses, 5 games winless, and coming off a 2-1 defeat at the hands of a Goan side playing with only 2 foreigners. NorthEast United will want to change their fortunes and make a push for the finals but Kolkata will be just as eager and thus this match should be a good one as both sides push for the three points.

Friday will see the same from Pune City as they take on Delhi Dynamos in Pune and finally we conclude on Saturday with Mumbai City hosting Kerala Blasters. The Blasters will be paying close attention to the matches this week as they have a seven day break after their 3-1 victory over Chennaiyin.
