Guys,in my opinion we have started to make inroads across all sports/events and there are good times coming ahead of us with respect to Olympics and other major sporting events.
In Badminton(We have started to make inroads in doubles events after already having a decent singles base) 1)Recently in Mens Doubles(Chirag Shetty-19yrs) and (Satwikraj-16yrs) beat an Indonesian pair who are former World No. 1 and at just 19 and 16 yrs they are ones to watch out for in future.
2)Ashwini and Sikki Reddy(Not a young pair in terms of age but a pair which has been made recently)- In the currently ongoing Singapore open they stretched the Olympic Champion and current World no.1 pair from Japan to 3 sets.(Good sign considering this is their 3rd or 4th tournament together)
In Table Tennis-in recent Asian Table Tennis Tournament India lost to Japan with tie score of 2 matches to 3 where India in the decider had 3 match points but lost and as we all know Japan is a super power when it comes to Table Tennis. In this tournament India defeated North Korea with a score of 3 matches to nil(zero).
This shows we have started to progress in Sports with which we dont really associate ourselves with but the future is looking bright and promising.
I personally feel Double digit medals in Olympics is probably around the corner and it might happen in 2020 olympics itself.Lets hope for the best.
@Bad Who are the best Table Tennis players in India right now? with age?
Are we still depending on Achantha Sharath Kamal, Anthony Amalraj, Mouma Das or any new younger talents have come up? In Womens, one Batra is there with right age and potential to improve.
@Bad I checked the Results in Asian Table Tennis Championship. Very disappointing performance by india in Men's Team. We lost to Japan, Hong Kong and also to North korea. India finished 8th in Men's Team and 9th in Women's Event. While we are still depending on 34 year old Achantha Sharath kamal, Japan is bringing up 13 year old Harimoto.
It looks 8th on paper but actually it is quarter finals knockout. So,loosing to Japan is not a shame.
TT doesn't require too much speed so you can play for a long time.
Regarding the young players there are 2.Not medal winning players yet but with age on their side they can do well, specially at Commonwealth level. They are:-
1)Soumyajit Ghosh-23 yrs,already played two Olympics.Current rank is 83,has been as high as 60.
Table Tennis Federation of India Rankings give different names though. Mens 1 & 2 are Gnansekharan and Shetty. Womens 1 & 2 are Patkar and Mukerjee. @Bad

The gamble of playing Balaji in place of Leander paid off. Good performance by Debutants Prajnesh yesterday and Balaji.today.
