9 out of the 10 boxer's have made it to the quarterfinals i.e top 8 which is quite a good performance and the only loss came against an Uzbek boxer (No harm in loosing to a powerhouse nation). As far as I see, in order to finish top 6, two out of the four Boxer's who loose in quarter finals whose opponents reach the finals will qualify.

But,ideally you would want to reach Semi final and guarantee the Qualification. However, all the 9 Indian Boxers do have a Qualification chance or if they loose in quarter finals but if their opponents of quarter finals reaches the final then they will qualify.

@shibier ; You are right. But there is a difference. Look Archery for example. World Cup and World Archery Championships of Archery are held every year. It is not like once in 4 year (Hockey or Football) where winning a medal will mean you are really the best in the world. It is in Olympics that best of the world participate together and pressure is huge. Also in India, past performance is the criteria for team selections while other countries give preference to present or future form.
We also have biennial World Boxing Championships. India has to date won 3 Bronze medals in mens category. This event is also taken into consideration as a qualifier for Olympics. Somebody already qualified there may or may not participate there. Winning a medal in world championship does not mean that you are really the best in the world.
Olympics is the ultimate competition. Hats off to Vijender singh for winning us a medal there.

India beats Japan 4-3 in Azlan shah. Nobody in hockey world has the tenacity to score goals the way Mandeep can score..absolutely no physique but one hell of a poacher in front of the goal.what a player!!

Shiva,Amit and Sumit so far have booked their place for World Championship by reaching Semi finals and assuring Bronze Medal Today.Sumit beat 3rd Seed Chinese who is quite a good boxer.Really good win for Sumit.

However,Gaurav lost a close fight but still can qualify if his opponent of today can reach the finals.

In the evening session 5 more Indian Boxers will try to secure the births by winning their matches.

Regarding top 6 boxer their might be a box-off between the boxers and not I said previously.Nothing is certain, except that there is still a chance for Boxers losing in Quarters.

    shibier,
I would rate this as India"s C team because even though out of the 15-16 players in this team around 10 are from our pool of 30 best players but the addition of 5 u-19 players in this team  brings its rating down because in Hockey every player plays unlike Cricket or Football. There will be at least 30-40 players who don"t play in the first team who are better than these u-19 players.

Bro,just my opinion even though you are not addressing it to me.

You are right that he is best instinctive striker/poacher in the world but Hockey now a days is not only just about scoring.Today,he scored a hatrick so we cant complain but now-a-days a lot of Hockey is played outside the circle(Creating Moves, build up play,Ball Carrying etc). This is where he struggles.
