I agree Mandeep's outfield play is not the best..but he scores out of the blue which makes up for it

Ok.. Considering that this is our C team.. The results so far are impressive. But how about the other teams ? Gt Britain , Australia etc who is playing this tournament ? Are they also fielding their 2nd string teams?

@shibier Sreejesh was there in the team but he got injured in Australia match. Infact his knee ligament injury will take around 3 months to heal.

Mandeep Singh is a player who should always be in the team-for his knack of scoring or atleast being in the right place. HIL coaches used him very well amongst Foreign players.
Scoring goals matters a lot. I used to like Sandeep Singh for this purpose. He had his faults for being slow as a defender. But he won many matches for India because of his Penalty Corners.

Guys, scoring is important but so is stopping them.In Hockey many goals are scored unlike Football so scoring one goal in a match may not be sufficient.eg)India won 4-3,Rupinder scored a goal and Mandeep scored 3,but everybody is talking about Mandeep and nobody is talking about Rupinder.Even,if i would have to rate Rupinder"s game against Japan, then i would say it was a below average game because Japan scored 3 goals, that means Defence was not good. So, Rupinder had a below average game despite him scoring a goal and contributing 25% of the goal as he scored 1 out of the 4 goals which India scored.

    Now,coming to Mandeep.
This is his first Hattrick against a decent opposition.Scoring 3 goals,All credit goes to him.He was the Match winner yesterday and their is no doubt about it.However,a striker in a normal case would score maybe a goal in 2 matches or 3 matches and won"t score 3 goals in every match. So,what happened to Rupinder can happen to Mandeep i.e even if he does score in every 2nd or 3rd match doesn"t mean he has a World Class Game.He also can have an average game or below average game despite scoring which he has most of the time.

    Now,finally coming to Sandeep Singh.
Yes,he was a genuine World class Flicker and won us many important matches specially against Pakistan but one thing is for sure that when he was playing India never came close to winning a major Asian Title(apart from 1 i think),leave alone the World Title.During his play time India failed to qualify for Olympics,Finished poorly in other major tournaments.I know he was not the only one to be blamed but since his name was mentioned so i decided to be specific. His extremely poor Defensive skills meant India used to concede many a Goals against the likes of Australia,Holland ,Germany whereas Strong Defenses of these teams(Aus,Holl,Ger) didn"t allow our forwards to make inroads and win many Penalty Corners thereby neutralizing his Penalty Corner skills and this doesn"t mean that Indian Forwards were that bad because when These Teams(Aus,Holl,Germany) used to play each other, then also Penalty corners earned by their Forwards were very less despite these forwards being better than indian Forwards.
What i want to say is"He might win us many Matches but cost us Many Tournaments"

Sandeep Singh was without a doubt the worst defender I have ever seen in Indian hockey..he could never even score from PC's against teams like Australia,Holland,Germany etc..everyone had a good measure of him

Bro,Who won"t say he is our best striker after him scoring 3 goals. If i would have to rate Indian Forwards i would rate them as follows(This is in general and not with respect to a particular Tournament):-

    1)Akashdeep
    2)Nikkin/Ramandeep(Both are equal)
    3)Nikkin /Ramandeep(Both are equal)
    4)Mandeep Singh
    5)Affan Youssaf

Guys, unfortunately all the 4 reamining Indian Boxers lost in the Evening (Quarter Finals) Matches yesterday. This means 4 have qualified automatically and 5 will have to face a box-off(i.e one match against other losing quarter finalist). The winner of this box-off will qualify for the World Championships. So still 5 boxers have a 50:50 chance as there is only one match. If 8 boxers qualify in total, then i would say it was a really Good performance from Indian Contingent.
