What is world Hockey league?? The winners will be the world champion?? So there is another world cup right , Last year Argentina was the winner !! How about that ? Can some one explain this
FIH Hockey world league is a league style tournament organised by FIH over a period of 2 years. The main purpose of this tournament is to see as a qualifier for Olympic games, World Cup Hockey as well as providing one more world level tournament besides champions trophy. The winner of world league is not called world champion, that credit is due for world cup winner. The bottom line is that most countries are suffering funding crunch as far as hockey is concerned. Spain new Zealand players pay for their own tickets. Only India and Malaysia are financially strong.Pakistan has declined. Unless FIH organise more and more tournaments and create funds for member associations, Hockey might get axed from Olympics. Many countries are unable to organise qualifiers for world cup or Olympics, FIH has to step in.
