I feel Devendro will find it difficult to break back in Indian squad, specially after the confidence Boosting Performance of our Youngsters"s(Amit,Gaurav and Kavinder all in their FIRST EVER BOXING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS).It will give them great confidence going forward.

However, i must say that among these three Amit,Kavinder and Gaurav,i personally feel Amit is the best Boxer in terms of Technique.Kavinder and Gaurav are not very technical and their style is quite unorthodox. Its just an Observation. If they keeping winning i wouldn"t complain but what i feel is that just based on technique Amit will have a better chance of going Forward in Tournaments because now with the current rules, the techniques of Boxers do matter. eg) Kavinder,in both his matches(yesterday and day before had a pointed deducted for holding his opponent). Now,generally a boxer wins a round 10:9 and 10:8 is very rare(when count outs takes place). So,getting a point deduction would mean that Kavinder would have to winning a round 10:8 in order to win the round 10:9 in case a point gets deducted, which is very difficult. So,these boxers and coaches will have to work on these things.

One More Thing is that although we must cherish every Sporting Achievement which comes our way specially in Global Events like World Championships, but one thing which which we must all realize is that for our Athletes to be considered as Medal Prospects for 2020 OLYMPICS(Tokyo Olympics) their Performance in 2019 World Championships would be eminent.

what i am trying to say is that, based on current performances(whether bad or good) we must consider themselves as a Medal Prospect just yet.Only time will tell,as 2-3 years is quite a long time when it comes to increase or decrease in Performances.

eg)Saina Nehwal won a Medal recently but come the 2020 Olympics may not be a Medal Prospect(Considering her age,Fitness etc)just saying.Whereas guys like Srikanth,Sai Praneeth,Prannoy etc may do well even tough they didn"t win a medal.

So, currently i will say that we did good(Overall) in 2 out of the 3 World Championships. In WRESTLING,BOXING and BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS we managed to pick 3 Medals in 3 World Championships. Its not that bad.

I am Saying that we did Good because, imagine this sort of performance in around 2019 World Championships/2020 Olympics:

Following medals possibilities for 2020 Olympics:

1)Badminton-2 medals minimum.Could be 3 depending our Players.
    2)Men"s and Women"s Boxing-2 Medals Total(1 Medal each in Men"s and Women"s category).
3)Wrestling-We had zero this time but everytime it won"t be the case.So 1 Medal in Wrestling.
    4)Shooting-1 to 2 Medals.
    5)Gymnastics-Possibly 1 medal.

Now,add to it our outside Medal hopes in Weightlifting,Tennis(mixed doubles),Archery and Hockey.

So,Suddenly we look good for around 8-10 Medals.

So,even tough 2019 World Championships would provide us with a better understanding as to where we stand for 2020 Olympics,But our performance in Overall Terms is decent as things stand.

Shooting is most unpredictable game. so we can't predict it. And in case of Gymnastic, boxing & wrestling I have a doubt. We predicted the same thing before Rio Olympic as well but in reality we got 2 medal. Badminton is the only game where we look stronger so here is a strong possibility to win few medals. Otherwise we can say between 1-10 we can win any number of medals. best possible case 10 Medals and in worst possible case 1 Medal anything can happen.

Individually these guys are pretty decent players. Even they performed average in last tournament the teams they lost to all did well in knock out stages.

    Rav92,

Yes,You are correct with regards to our Prediction falling apart with respect to Rio,that is why i said that World Championships Events in 2019 would give us a better understanding as to where we stand with respect to 2020 Olympics. However,One thing most of us forget is that 8-10 of Athletes/Teams were very close to medals.

We had three 4th Place Finishes(Dipa,Mixed Doubles Tennis and Abhinav)

Also,5 of our Athletes/Team reached atleast Quarter Finals(Meaning one round away from Medal Round or Confirming Medal).
    These were:-

Vikas,Hockey Team,Vinesh and Jitu Rai,Women""s Archer reached Top 8 meaning a Win away from attaining a Medal Opportunity.

Apart from this our Women"s Weightlifter wasn"t able to lift even a single weight. The Weight which she was trying for would have put her among the Medals. She had Lifted these weights in the past and were in her reach.

So,it wasn"t that we were wrong in predicting Medals for some of these. They came really close. However,on the big day weren"t able to win the medal. But,this dosen"t  mean that they didn"t had a chance of winning a medal or our Prediction was Incorrect.
