Munna,Mirabai Chanu is already a National Record Holder(she did in 2016).She lifted 192 kg.The National Record stands in her name.

  • This is the nature of the sport. these lifters do lot of lifting in training also but actual competition is all about out-witting the opponents. Who will lift how much to come into medal position or to put pressure on the opponent. Thats why Indian lifters failed massively in actual competiton - Olympics. Personal records of all lifters are way high. We are now minnows of weightlifting at Asian Level (Thailand, China, Japan, Koreas, Taiwan) - hardly any medal prospect at Asian Games. Commonwealth Games is the only opportunity I think.

munna219777,With the performances coming in,i will say that an Asian Medal(s) are not a distant dream.Asian Level in Weightlifting is actually the world level.

Our performnces are improving and i feel we can actually win couple of Medals at next Asian Games(2018).

Another Medal Prospect Probably is Ragala Venkat Rahul(just 20yrs) in Men""s 77KG has Lifted a total of 351kg in the ongoing Commonwealth Games Qualifier.

Now,with this lift total he would have finished 5th at the Rio Olympics. Moreover,Rahul has come from the pathway. He won Gold at Asian Youth Championships,Silver at Youth Summer Olympics.

So,with this lift total,he is perhaps another one to watch out for at next year"s Asian Games in terms of our Medal Prospect.I am not mentioning Commonwealth Games as we have been quite decent at Commonwealth Wealth Games.

The way our weightlifters have performed so far at Commonwealth Qualifier Tournament has been quite breathtaking and they have influenced me to follow the World Weightlifting Championships to be conducted later this year.

World Weightlifting Championships are scheduled to be conducted later this year. They will perhaps tell us that actually where do we Stand when it comes to winning a Medal at World Events.

The Signs are looking Promising though.

Another joke on Indian Hockey by Batra & company. Women's coach Sjoerd Marjine is named as Mens team coach. This guy has no experience of being coach of mens national team ever. He used to be Netehrlands U-21 Girls coach before coming to India.
Just 3-4 days ago they posted advertisement of job for Indian Mens team coach. Standard procedure is to interview few candidates, who sent the CV but this became direct appointment. According to reports, Marjine did not apply. Infact he was reluctant as he is Womens coach mainly. what is the game behind all this?

They simply want to earn easy money from coach salary. This kind of officials have nothing to do with the games. They just came here to earn money. Neither they have knowledge about the game nor they want to improve the game. Time has come to kick their candy asses. But not a single ex player protest against such autocracy of the officials. We have enough talent to win trophies but these kind of culprits ceases that to happen.

Sjored marjine is big flop with  indian women hockey team. Under him women team played 1 tournament  &  2 friendly series .we have fared so badly . My prediction is  he will be sacked after 2 to 3 tournament.

  • Marjine is a flop, Hawgood was a flop with Women's team. Our women's team did well under Indian Coach. One cannot magically implant foreign style of play-especially on womens team. Dutch/Aussie women players are tall and athletic plus the emphasis on always building a move from the back , back pass long pass. Our women players lost their natural game of short pass, dribble, attack and move forward. They are just caught up into long backpass and get lost by the opposition. If they play their natural game, coach will remove them. If they play according to coach, they lose bigly.  Whatever success we have reached was under indian coach only who understood our style-it is painful to see women team play nowadays.
