PV Sindhu has become third time lucky. The World No. 5 is now the first Indian shuttler to win a gold at BWF World Championships. She is also the joint-most successful women's singles shuttler at the world meet, having won 5 medals in just 6 appearances.
The new female coach Kim has done wonders for Sindhu. She is aggressive by nature and has added that aggression in Sindhu's game.
I have seen the new coach with Sindhu from the last 3 Tournaments. 2 Sindhu has won and in 1, Sindhu reached Quarter-finals.
Sindhu now utilises her height to the maximum. She pushes her shorter opponents like Tai,Chen, Okuhara, etc to back court and is quick to to follow their shots at the net and then finishes the point their itself. It requires a lot of fitness and this means that her fitness has also improved
This is a new strategy which Sindhu has brought to the table. No one managed to overcome this strategy in this Tournament as it was relatively new but over a period of time Sindhu and her coach should also think about alternative strategies as other opponents would now do their homework with regards to this strategy.
Let's see how Sindhu and her coach plan for future events specially the Olympics 2020.
Except QF match against Tai, I agree all ur points.. Sindhu struggled against Tai.. Tai's defense is too good, also her drop shots & net game..
They both have different strengths & game plan.. Of course, Sindhu used multiple strategies in 2nd & 3rd set.. but Tai lost bcoz she made too many forced errors
See,you have to understand that Tai's strongest point is her net play and deception. Net play here means drops, deception, smash, lifts etc from the net.She is perhaps the best in the World at doing that. Her style is that she controls the front and the middle of the Court and dominates her opponents.
However, because of her short height she finds it comparitively difficult to do all the things like drop, smash, lifts etc from the back of the Court(more her time for the opponent to judge her shots). In this case Sindhu, managed to force Tai to the Back of the Court due to which Tai made more errors because Sindhu was judging her deceptions which forced Tai to go for the corners of the Court(more risky shots) which led to Tai commiting more errors than normal.
Yes its our privilege to have @Bad here in IFN to get in-depth analysis of almost every type of games , and it's a luxury to have human encyclopedia like our admin @munna219777
Sumit seemed to have a good controlled overall game against Federer.
If this is his consistency level than he certainly has the potential to be a seeded player at the Grand slams and can reach 3/4 th round in these Grandslam Tournaments
There weren't obvious flaws in his game apart from his service. His service seemed a little average to me. If he improves his service than he can surely become a seeded player.
