I know someone on the Maharashtra women's team. Chandigarh has failed to turn up so Maharashtra getting a walk-over. Trying to get other details, will keep you guys updated.
Better for Chandigarh, its better to stay away than get hammered with a couple of dozen of goals. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

It's the Nationals man. I don't get the logic. It's not like it happens everyday. I'd go even if I were getting beat bad.

You can't just register and not turn up. It could be once in a lifetime opportunity for many. I just fail to see the logic. Doesn't help one bit that we have such archaic systems & mentalities in place.
I apologise for my comment. But what i want to happen is during the next year is that the semifinalists of this year should not play the group stages and should be given direct entry in the last eight. And the format of 2nd div final round should be followed for the last eight teams.

why do we see so many lopsided scores in women's tournaments? do these states just assemble a team at the last moment and send them to play? i suspect its a racket which is operating. If u represent ur state team, u r eligible for jobs. May b these association bosses get some cream. who knows!
Wud b interesting to see how stable is their squad composition over the years. i m sure there wud b lot of changes every yr

I wasn't admonishing your comment. I am admonishing the Chandigarh management cause I think it's due to them the team has not turned up.

Why make the players pay for something that is not their fault. I said it before and I'll repeat it again, it is probably one of the greatest and for some may be the only chance to take part in a spectacle this big. It is the senior nationals after all.

My gut feeling is, the players did want to come cause I know they had the camp. What transpired post that is anybody's guess. If I had to pin the blame on someone, I wouldn't hesistate on pointing fingers at the management. Of course it's according to their whims and fancies that decides what happens and what doesn't. Gutted for the girls from Chandigarh. Even if they were to lose ALL their matches horribly, they'd still like to be there.

I am not saying to let the players suffer I am cursing the aiff as they are totally cluless on how they can hold the tournament so that each team can start equal

The AIFF are no angel's. But here in this case, I know for a fact that individual member bodies also are part to blame.

Someone mentioned it before that the selection is done last minute hence the lopsisded results. The AIFF can only do this much and if the state body is unconcerned, I don't think you can at will coerce them into something.

Take for example the Maharashtra squad, the team wasn't even announced even though the nationals had begun. The selection et all happened in the last 4 days before they went for the nationals. Did not get to practice enough with lacklustre facilities. I think the state body is to blame in this case, not the AIFF. The only thing they can and should do is enforce that a state body does not look at this in such a callous manner.

Just to make it very clear, the Maharashtra state team selection wasn't rigged. Players got in only on the basis of merit. Still, no excuse for pushing back the camp & the selection till the last minute.

Why are the trials are not announced properly? I doubt that all the potential players get to know about it! How much does it take to announce trials in a newspaper? random people publish obituary...so i bliv it doesnt involve a lot of money. The people at helm are not at all concerned. They r running it for the heck of it.
They shud b accountable to the authority for their laxity!

Big point!!!. The AIFF are also a part of this racket otherwise why are they not taking action against them.

Thats what I am saying aiff needs to become more strict and they themselves need to be accountable once the head organisation becomes gets rid of the thugs only then the game can improve

I've put a results/tables page up for this competition on my site now to save me having to keep posting just a few results here and there. Also, gives a better overview of the tournament.
