They have started to put into youth..its a long process..there will come time i feel wheb they will rely on home based players should they take the football to nxt step.
I had this debate earlier on fb..if its cheating or not.. i dont think so..what qatar etc are doing is cheating..but these guys belong to that ethnicity n identity..shouldnt be a problem.

What youth development. Look at the UFL and you will see maybe a few locals doing so well. That league is even more foreign dominated than ours with most of the better Filipeanos being the foreign-born ones. As for the future, I will believe it when I see it but at the moment they did not even enter the 2012 AFC U16 qualifiers. What? No youth at their disposal.
As for cheating. It would not be cheating if they were to play in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers but the fact that they are doing this to just walk into the AFC Asian Cup through the Challenge Cup is sad and embarrassing really. The fact that they need former Spanish league, German league, and English league players to beat countries like Cambodia, Turkmenistan etc is sad. That team should be able to qualify through the normal way, not the developmental way.
Now this one is interesting. I agree with most of his points but at the same time I would not count out playing the "occasional" non-Asian side. It would not hurt the India national team to play maybe a team like Tahiti or Cape Verde or even Malta. It would expose India to different styles, different cultures, different playing conditions etc which would increase the footballing intelligence of the players.
So perhaps keep it at majority Asian sides but with the odd outer-Asian side as well per season.
Why would Costa Rica play a friendly with India in June when they have WCQ here in North America? The only countries India could schedule for a friendly are ones that have been eliminated from WCQ. Also, why are we scheduling European countries like Azerbaijan who lost 2-0 to Portugal. We would be demolished by all those countries listed except for may be Luxembourg. We should be playing Asian countries and getting familiar with the style of play in our own continent because that is where our competitors are. No point in playing European countries when you are far from the World Cup. I'd rather see us play DPR korea or Iran.

Money reasons. Corporates schedule these games for money. Taking advantage of Indian football is the only thing they can do and the AIFF dont care.

It is yet to be decided which team Costa Rica would send? How we can say that they would send their main team?
