Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has received an invitation from an India-based company for a couple of matches which the Greenshirts are supposed to play against India(4th) and Bangladesh (7th) in England in June.
If this is true, then it is bad according to me.Vietnam anyday would have been better then Bangladesh and Pakistan. We are the best in the Saff.If our U-23 team plays then i will still acknowledge but otherwise these type of games are such that if you win,you don't gain much but if you loose then there is everything to loose.
Its similar to what Cameroon had to face in Nehru cup.If there matches would have been official and considering the results they would have gone down to around 90 from 59 whereas if they would have won all the matches they would have reached 58.
In these matches if we win then we would neither be improving much(in terms of both rankings and skill wise) whereas if we would loose then acquisitions reagrding Wim and the team would continue further.
We have been Dominating the Region(SAFF) since the SAFF CUP HAS STARTED.
Countries like Malaysia,Singapore,Thailand,Philippines,Palestine,Yemen,Syria,Lebanon,Hongkong etc should be played on home and away dates as was scheduled with Vietnam earlier to judge that in case we are drawn against these countries In STAGE-2 of World Cup Qualifiers can we get the better of them which unfortunately we have not been able to do in the past.
Playing SAFF countries even if we do it regularly (even if we do 3 matches in a month) won't improve us cause already we are the best among them.
you have to understand the context here..indo pak game in uk is about popularity and reaching bigger audience.. so ignore the ranking factor for a minute... the rankings are useless for next 2 years when there are no competitive games..
you gotta keep in mind despite being best in saff india just lost to myanmar.. so perhaps going back to being best in saff and beating fellow saff countries it prob give some confidence boost to push on for stronger teams in later half of the year.
i personally hope this happens.. so atleast our population here can take notice.. n not ask oh does india/pakistan have football team too!!
I know we lost to Myanmar but still i think that was perhaps our worst team which Wim could have chosen out of the 23 players he selected and i mean it.

You are right when you say that it is done for the Popularity but honestly speaking how often these matches would be held. Perhaps 1 match in 3-4 years.Do you really think this will increase the popularity.???? I seriously have my doubts on it.

I have a different opinion. All that we have is the rankings to show during these 2 years. We will not be under any pressure as we in reality dont have any tournament to look forward to.
Even England failed to qualify for Euro 2008 and Holland for 2002 world cup.Now did this made them poor teams and did they started playing teams like Malta,Faroe Islands etc to gain confidence.
The higher we are ranked at the time the qualification for World cup 2018 the easier team we get.We can take chances at this time as we got nothing to loose so we shall take up challenging but beatable teams.
Even though,PAKISTAN and Bangladesh may beat India but that still does not make them better then India if you ask me.
We simply lost because of poor team selection and not because of of poor gameplay.
If i ask all of you to name the Starting 11 for India only 2-3 players from the side which was played by Wim would be appear on the list as is the case with me and the good part for us is that we have been saying it before the tournament and not after it.
Now you guys will say that he is the coach and he knows better and stuff but guys if all of us have a similar opinion in terms of selection of players then surely there can be something wrong on his part too.
india pakistan games tend to cancel at the last moment for non-sports reasons. But it is a good initiative to organise such games at places where high expatriate population is there like Gulf Countries, UK, USA.
India should take advantage of 2.5 crore Indian descent population across the world. Whether it is Fiji, Vancouver or Durban, we got supporters who can come to the stadium. Yesterday for east bengal game in singapore, there were chants of India Jeetega in the stands.
Having said that, It is important to play on FIFA match dates with higher ranked countries then us.
Agree with Shah here. We need to start from zero now.
Well if Raju and Gouramangi play then Pakistan and Bangladesh have every chance of beating us.
hope wim plays them
