I think the problem here is the Indian football fan mentality. Not you guys but the average one and this has been pissing me off for a while now because I go onto facebook and check the Indian football groups and they always have a poster who says something like "If an Indian cant make it in Portugal then surely they can make it in the lower leagues like in Austria, Switzerland, and Denmark" when the reality is that its bullshit.

If anyone has actually looked closer at these leagues you will see that many players are internationals for their countries... good countries. Also I have seen many MLS players move to these leagues and then make the US national team. What does that say? They could not break into the US national team in MLS (maybe the odd game per year) but then a move to Austria, Swiss, and Denmark makes them more of a regular. Of course that is different now with more MLS guys getting chances over the Austria, Denmark guys but the point is that if a guy like Sunil Chhetri could not make it in MLS then how the hell can he make it at these "lower leagues".

Look at a former example. Edmar Figueira. The guy who scored 18 goals in his 2 seasons in India. He signed for a Portugese 1st tier team. Played 0 games. He then moved to a Romanian side and only played 2 games before moving to the German 5th tier where he could only manage 8 games before he came back to Asia in Syria where he is now.

So what does that say when a guy who was better than all the Indians can not even make it far in Europe and had to settle in the German 5th tier in the end?

It basically says that we are overrating ourselves and underrating other leagues. We need to sit back and think logically and not say "Hey this league is not known worldwide, an Indian must be good enough for it.".

Nirmal Chhetri would not even make it to Bangladesh Muktijodhha..he is the msot overrated player in Indian football currently. I have not seen him doing one impressive run or an accurate long pass..
cut the chatter.
nirmal ain't good good enough.hez overrated.
it's due to his twitter account that he gets more praise then he actually deserves.
except nabi all fullbacks i saw play for NT recently are useless.

Well Aibor of Mohun Bagan looks good at the right-back spot recently. If he is more consistent then perhaps he could make it at the National level.

never heard of him. the way USFC is performing i have lost my interest in I lig.except for USFC and EB matches i just don't care about what's happening with rest of the teams.
if this guy comes on national scene then he might catch my eye.
