AIFF should be banging their heads for signing the deal wid IMG. How on earth can someone hand such a deal and lose all the rights over its own property? The nearsighted officials failed to see this coming. On the other hand one could say that but for IMG-R, no one else was willing to get on board.
Cochin seems to be much better option as of now. If Chennai gets a team before Cochin does, it would be a shame and injustice to the people of Cochin who have always been great patrons of the game
Southern Samity haven't pulled out of Indian Football yet. Although earlier the officials of Southern intimated the IFA along with the AIFF to withdraw their football team due to the acute financial crisis.
But, after the intervention of the Wes Bengal Sports Minister Madan Mitra, who is also the president of Southern Samity the situation changed.
Southern officials are now optimistic that they can over come the financial crisis and are in search of a sponsor.
Meanwhile Southern has decided that Subrata Bhattacharya will continue as the Technical director, while Sasthi Duley will be the coach in the coming season.
If AIFF are in the red then how do we expect them to invest in grassroots, womens football, infrastructure. Not good news - more tighting of the belt i think. Also where is this IMG - Reliance investment fund.
