AJMER: In what must be one of the most bizarre excuses, a budding football player was left out of Rajasthan's Under-14 team because he has two teeth less than what is expected at his age. Despite putting up a rather commendable show at the state level tournaments, Nishant Kumar was not included in the squad for the U-14 National tournament to be held in Goa, as he has 28 instead of 30 teeth.

An excellent show in Thursday's trials was also of little use for this student of National Military School, who was disqualified by the selectors. Nishant, who had gone for the trials in Pali along with friend Tej Singh, was told that he can't make the cut because he has 28 teeth.

When TOI got in touch with a top official of the All India Football Federation, he called the incident 'bizarre'. The official said the AIFF constitution doesn't have any such provisions.

Any tom dick & Harry can become a football official in India. Only criteria is he should have some influence & know A to Z of corruption. Anyway they must have never heard of football & when told to select a football team they must have heard something like 'food hall'. And thinking it must be some meat eating contest in Goa they must have rejected Nishant for having less teeth.
