how many of you think this league could help attract more fan base for indian football?? <!-- s:confusion-scratchheadyellow: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/confusion/scratchheadyellow.gif" alt=":confusion-scratchheadyellow:" title="Yellow Scratching Head" /><!-- s:confusion-scratchheadyellow: -->
i wonder what will be the quality of a league without having best indian players, who will be busy in i-league..
do you all think the teams could show a great class display with one quality player???maybe they should have thought of keeping this league at off season of i-league so that indian players could also be played which would have easily raised the quality of games to be played
i dont see any better response from the people coz football is not a one man show...even messi need xavi or iniesta to score goals

Well you seem to have forgotten the most important and basic requirement that is Infrastructure !! Well few months back Steve Darby complained about cow dung in M.B traning ground so what would Infra look like in West Bengal towns ???

These players are used to World Class Facilities which even IPL teams fail to meet, they should have atleast basic ones forget world class or else this tourney will go nowhere.

Second thing is what about fans, corprates are spending big so what is their guarantee of getting returns in small Towns ??

ya i know the infrastucture will be the major issue because i dont think other than kolkatta, which might just be close to good one. no stadium would even come closer to half fulfilled
i just hope the owners get their due through sponsors and merchandise as these shirts will be of some world famous players
this event now has got some international eyes and i just hope cmg and ifa dont mess it up ...

    1. Football is as popular, if not more, in small towns. I have stayed in a few small towns far off from Kolkata and traveled with my school team in regional inter-school matches. There is a huge football following and it is still a tough competition for cricket.

    2. The players would not complain about anything. Nobody will give them 4 crores for 6 weeks. The YBK in Kolkata, the Durgapur Stadium (probably they will use SAIL Academy or DSP Stadium, the latter one is better), Kanchenjungha Stadium in Siliguri, Howrah Municipal Stadium in Howrah and Vidyasagar Stadium in Barasat are all in good conditions. I am sure they are working on it to make them better

In Durgapur, They may use the Sahid Bhagat Singh Kriyagan is the best in Durgpur in terms of Ground Quality but the only downside of this stadium is that there is no sitting arrangements in the stadium the next best stadium is the DSP stadium this is where the SAIL Academy train and it a has seats(benches)

are these stadiums u pointed out, fan friendly??? because if there is no proper setup for fans i dont see them coming up for long time...
because i can easily say how does it feel to go and cheer for your team at poor fan friendly stadium being there at old cooperage couple of times for mahindra utd matches when the stadium was least making us interested to come back

For PLS, infrastructure is a real problem. I currently study in haldia institute of technology and live very close to the haldia football stadium. There are no floodlights here in the stadium, i don't know how they r gonna manage night matches over here. The pitch is obviously not up to the mark. And IFA academy boys regularly practice here. Yesterday saw, India u16 goal keeper supratim bhattacharya training with his fellow ifa academy cadets on the same pitch where matches are supposed to be played. But haldia is a very nice place to stay, good hotels and relaxation sites are available.

I think the franchisees who are paying rs 12.5 crores plus similer amount of money for ownership, will not hesitate to put in a few more crores towards infra upgradation to assure higher returns. Problem will be finding quality indian players beyond i-league players. 3-4 good foreigners alone will not make a good team.
