• ya it will be great if such idea if implemented ...even now if we see in current year all kolkatta teams matches are telecasted in news bangla and slfc matches in news assam.....along with national broadcaster ten action+ too,....but other places like maharshtra ,goa, kerala and karnataka are missing out

Exactly. We need a local regional channels to join in. This could also bring in the money for the league to start a youtube service which gives you highlights of EVERY game in it. Just like Major League Soccer does with there channel. Whether the game was on nationally or regionally they have it on youtube. Same with the Indian Premier League
• AIFF Cup

Get rid of the old and now kinda useless Durand Cup and also get rid of the Federation Cup (which is a naming knock-off of all the other SAFF Domestic Cup tournaments) and start a new cup called the AIFF Cup. This cup would be contested between leagues that have been approved by the AIFF (I-League, I-League 2nd Division, Premier League Soccer, Nagaland Premier League, and the NE Premier League [as of 2012]) No other state leagues can participate in this cup till they get a proper state league. Anyway the 1st Round would consist of only the State League teams playing each other and the in the 2nd Round the I-League 2nd Division teams would join and then in the 3rd Round the I-League teams would join. Then we go from there. Also this cup would take place during the season. Not in one full month. Basically like in England or the USA or Spain in which they play league and cup throughout the season. Here is an example of how this cup would work of started today (January 23 2012):

AIFF Approved Leagues (# of Teams): I-League (14 clubs), I-League 2nd Division (22 teams [minus SESA as they are an academy team]), PLS (6 clubs), NPL (10 clubs), NEPL (8 clubs) (Total: 61 clubs)

Round 1: (24 clubs) All state league teams play each other in a one legged match

Round 2: (12 clubs + 22 = 34 clubs) All state winners + I-League 2nd Division teams

Round 3: (17 clubs + 13 = 30 clubs [NOTE: The I-League leader when the draw takes place gets a bye into the 4th Round])

Round 4: (15 clubs + 1 = 16 clubs)

Quarters: (8 clubs)

Semis: (4 clubs)

Final: (2 clubs)

So it can very much work at this moment. What do you guys think.

AIFF Cup
i liked your aiff cup format,it and may be they can think of selling the tournament names right to one of their sponsors like say panasonic cupthis could prompt the sponsors to promote it with more heart and that way could increase the interest among the sponsors as well...i just hope these suggestions are reached to the main officials
• Thanks guys. I will keep coming up with suggestions when I think of them. I am also trying to get them across to teams and the AIFF. I even gave my Regional Channel idea to Pune FC and so far nothing has happened. I hope they can negotiate with a Maharashtra News Channel

This is a plan for kerala football ; can be opted for others also.

School athletic meet in kerala has a huge participation of schools all over from kerala. It is highly supported by government & d media gives a great pubilicity. It is highly followed by people. Schools like St.George school & Mar Basils ( who are strong contenders for Champion School ) spend a huge money each year for this event .They take students who have performed well in the previous meet from other schools & get admitted to their school by offering high educational facilities and scholarships. They do this mainly for d fame they get from this meet ; huge publicity through d media & d financial support given to them by d government for sports.

As all know football is highly followed in kerala.
Now the government should organise a similar BRAND NEW School Football Championship in subdistrict, district & state level { in subjunior [5 players in a team], junior [ 8 players ] & senior [11 players ] categories}. Media shud come to support by giving publicity.Champion school shud be given a title name say -'SOCCER SCHOOL OF THE YEAR'.They may be allowed to use this title name for their publicity.Government shud give financial support to d winning schools.

Now, one IMPORTANT thing- d COACHES.We lack good coaches in youth development part.
Government shud select 4 or 5 ex football players & they should be sent abroad for studying best youth development courses ( say FIFA certified courses) & also studying youth development programmes done by various clubs by visiting them . Now these coaches impart their knowledge to a group of say 30 to 40 other coaches.
Now these group of coaches is appointed zone wise ( i.e kerala state is divided in to say 30-40 zones) . Each coach shud look after d government schools coming under that zone.Private schools may also appoint these coaches who are willing to join them. Also ,there shud be another SEPARATE GROUP of people for SPOTTING TALENTS FROM THIS FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP right from d sub district level.

This pattern can be used for d UNIVERSITY (COLLEGE) LEAGUE also.

This can be formed into the University League of India (ULI) as well. Nice thinking. It seems like a good format to. I also liked how you divided sections into 11 players per team then 8 to a team then 5-a-side. If we are to play a good passing style like game then the youth should play in 5-a-side or 8-a-side
• Zonal Leagues

Why dont the AIFF try starting zonal leagues which consist of 10 teams per league. Each league would be named the following...
- Northern India Football League (J & K, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh): This league would consist of 2 teams from each state but the teams are not only based on there table position in there last respective state league. It is also determined by finances. Can your club survive? Can they pay the fees? ect. So basically if a club from J & K win there state league but dont have financial strength then they wont be allowed into the NIFL and instead there spot would go to the 2nd Place team and 3rd place team. This should be done with all the state leagues btw.

- Westen Indian Football League (Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh): Instead of the top 2 from each state league it would be the top 2 and then the final two spots will be decided by a 1 game play-off between the 3rd place team. So you would have 10 teams again. Of course same rule as the NIFL apply.

- South Indian Premier League (Kerala, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu): Same as the NIFL

- East Indian Football League (Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa): Instead of 2 teams for league witch will be top 3 and a play-off between the 4th place team to determined the 10th team. Again same regulations apply.

- North-East Premier League: You guys know.

Then at the end of each season the top 2 teams from each Zonal League will get promoted to the I-League 2nd Division. Also Note that current I-League and I-League 2nd Division teams cant play in the Zonal League.

So what do you guys think. Should India adopt Zonal Leagues and call it our 3rd tier (1st tier: I-League, 2nd Tier: I-League 2nd Division, 3rd Tier: Zonal Leagues, 4th Tier: State Leagues)?
• Deb_BanDeb_Ban 9950 Points
Absolutely! This is what I was preaching all the time: a 3-tier league system – I-league I & II at the national level, and then zonal leagues, each acting as feeder to the league above.

Though I shall prefer four zones (east and NE merged) only, with sixteen (no less!) in each league. Each zonal champion will get elevated to I-league II, four from I-league II will be promoted to I-league I. needless to say, relegation will follow the same pattern. This way, replenishment at the lowest level shall be for only one team, which shall come from the state leagues within the zone (may be on a rotational basis, to simplify things).

A team moving upwards from the bottommost rung will have ample time to perform and impress the sponsors (and organize its house and professionalize) as it goes up. For organizers and sponsors as well, running/ managing/ financing such leagues will be cost effective. And nothing can be more broad-based than this.
.
.
.
.
But AIFF will take none of this!
