There was 18000+ strong crowd in attendance for the Dempo-Salgaoncar match yesterday evening. A Good sign for Indian club football.

Do you have a source for that because I would love to put that on Wikipedia.

Also if true that the attendance was 18,000 for a match in the afternoon than imagine the crowd if the games were at Night. The Tilak had 15,000 people for a game verse a 3rd Division Korean team (The Tilak only holds 15,000 so that means it was a 100% packed stadium). Great for Goan football.

WOW! Dempo-Salgaocar drawing 18,000 crowd is an awesome thing! I would seriously love to see alternatives to MB-EB derby. This one is seriously promising <!-- s:whistle: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/eusa/whistle.gif" alt="" title="Whistle" /><!-- s:whistle: -->

  • Looks like Dempo's only marketing achievement (a website) is paying off. Imagine the crowd if they actually marketed there team super well and the proposed Dempo Stadium is 100% confirmed.

Good future for Dempo Sports Club

gud sign, I actually saw it during I league hls show, the spectators are sitting on the other half of the stadium having bucket seats, not on the sunlight facing side which the tv cameras show

There are floodlights at the Tilak Mudain Stadium (spelling?). Fatorda Stadium does not yet.

  • The federation is also concerned by the moderate crowd response at several venues, including Goa, where three strong local teams have failed to attract enough spectators. While the two Calcutta teams still have a committed fan base, teams from Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Kerala have come a cropper in terms of filling up the stands.

Without the two Kolkata teams and also Mohammedan Sporting (also from Kolkata) there is not much to talk about in Indian football, the fan base of these three put together will be quite a force. Still the federation is apathetic towards the severe bias in refereeing these teams are having to contend with in their run to glory, including goals being disallowed leading to loss of points, head butting in the penalty box gets the referee to wave play on and other atrocious decisions, the less mentioned, the better. Even selected matches in the local Calcutta league are being played by foreign referees incurring expenses to the tune of 6 lakhs per game but the national football body can care less.
