both teams had foreigners in their squad.
  • Trojan your talking about, Delhi United FC vs Shahadra FC in the DSA Premier League Final.

I wonder why both teams did not make the 2nd Division though. Delhi United FC has an Academy for u14, u16 and u19 as well. They are ran in a professional way as well and have money so it hard to think why not.

AIFF Executive Committee announce 2nd Division I-League tentative kick-off date

The committee also congratulated the Indian women's team for their recent accomplishments.

The Executive Committee members of All India Football Federation met at AIFF Headquarters, the Football House in Dwarka, New Delhi on Saturday (November 17, 2018). AIFF Senior Vice-President Mr. Subrata Dutta chaired the meeting in the absence of AIFF President Mr. Praful Patel.

Besides, AIFF General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das; Vice Presidents Mr. KMI Mather and Mr. Subhash Chopra; all other members except Mr. Sanjay Behera and Mr. Deepak Kumar, attended the meeting.

Leave of absence was also granted to Vice Presidents Mr. Larsing Sawyan, Mr. Manvendra Singh and Treasurer Mr. ZA Thakur.

Mr. Chirag Tanna represented FSDL in the meeting as an invitee.

The Committee condoled the death of former AFC General Secretary Mr. Peter Velappan, and AIFF Medical Committee Member Dr. Manpreet Gambhir. A minute’s silence was observed as a mark of respect for each of them.

The Committee congratulated the Indian Women’s Team advancement to the 2nd round of the AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifiers recently held in Yangon. “This is for the first time the Indian women have qualified for the second round. Congratulations,” Mr. Das said, much to the applause of all the members.

Mr. Das also apprised the Committee about AIFF’s MOU with the Government of Odisha. “The Government of Odisha has been extremely supportive for the development of Indian Football and I need to thank the honourable CM Shri Naveen Patnaik ji for all his support,” he stated.

“The Indian Arrows, and the India U-15 team preparing for the AFC U-16 Qualifiers would be based in Bhuwaneshwar. The MOU will also facilitate general football development, scouting, development of referees and coach education programmes,” Mr. Das stated. “We will also be setting up the U-15 Girls Academy in Bhuwaneshwar.”

Updating the Committee about I-League matters, Mr. Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League informed that the Hero 2nd division will kick-off from December 2018.

23 teams have so far expressed their willingness to play. However, the participants would be finalised only after completion of the AIFF Club licensing inspection and thereafter placed before the League Committee.

“The AIFF TW3 tests are currently being conducted for all the clubs for the U-13 and U-15 leagues,” Mr. Dhar added.

Ms. Roma Khanna made a presentation to the Committee about developments on AIFF’s Centre of Excellence presently coming up in Kolkata.

Furthermore, the Committee also accepted the resignation of Mr. AR Khaleel from the post of an Executive Committee Member, and approved the inclusion of Mr. Nikhil Patel in the AIFF Competitions Committee, and Dr. Madhav Milan Ghosh in the AIFF Disciplinary Committee in place of Mr. Krishnendu Banerjee.

Meanwhile, the Committee unanimously gave its consent to hold the AGM for AIFF on December 20, 2018.

Football: State associations nominate 23 teams for second division of I-League

Hindustan FC, last season’s runners-up, are also in the fray.

Twenty-three teams have been nominated for the second division of the I-League, scheduled to start in December. The league committee will study these nominations and then decide which teams will play in the second division alongside the reserve sides of the Indian Super League teams.

Last season, Real Kashmir defeated Hindustan FC 3-2 in their last match of the second division to make it to the I-League. Hindustan FC are back in the fray for a record 15th season in the second division, as are fellow Delhi clubs Sudeva Moonlight and Delhi United.

TRAU from Manipur and Bengaluru-based Ozone, the two clubs which played the final round of the second division, have also been nominated. Imphal-based SSU and South United from Karnataka will look to join their more experienced counterparts in the second division this year. Fateh Hyderabad will also hope to reprise their second division campaign this year.

A trio of Kerala clubs – SAT Tirur, Quartz FC and FC Kerala – have the chance to get promoted and join Gokulam Kerala in the I-League if they are picked for the second division.

A Srinagar-derby that was witnessed in the second division could be back on the cards if either of the Kashmir-nominated teams, Lonestar Kashmir and J&K Bank, make it through.

As the two Kolkata giants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan look to jump ship to join the Indian Super League, the third, Mohammedan Sporting, look set to try their luck once again in the second division. Rainbow Athletic from Kolkata are gunning for the second division as well.

Reigning Mizo Premier League holders Chhinga Veng could emulate predecessors Aizawl by winning the second division. They are not the only domestic league winners from the NorthEast, as Langsning, newly crowned champions of the Shillong Premier League, also aim to join city counterparts Lajong in the top tier.

Last season, 13 teams were picked to compete alongside seven ISL reserve sides. The league committee is set to meet and deliberate on the clubs along financial and technical licensing lines before announcing the final list.

    Complete List:

Kerala: SAT Tirur, Quartz FC, FC Kerala

Delhi: Hindustan FC, Sudeva Moonlight, Delhi United

    Manipur: TRAU FC, SSU-Singjamei

    Meghalaya: Langsning FC

    Mizoram: Chhinga Veng

    Sikkim: United Sikkim

West Bengal: Mohammedan Sporting, Rainbow Athletic

Jammu and Kashmir: Lonestar Kashmir, J&K Bank

Karnataka: Ozone Bengaluru FC, South United

    Telangana: Fateh Hyderabad

    Odisha: RadhaRaman Club

    Bihar: Shirsh Bihar United

    Gujarat: Ara FC

    Jharkhand: Shivansh Jharkhand FC

    Madhya Pradesh: Madan Maharaj FC
