    Road to Final -

After winning the Fed Cup 2015, BFC qualified for AFC Cup 2016 placed in group stage.

Group Stage - Second Place with 9 points
BFC started the journey with 2-1 loss against Lao Toyota FC and 1-0 home loss to JDT. It was remarkable after 2 loss in the group to qualify, Away win 1-0 against Myanmar team Ayeyawady United and return leg saw 8 goal thriller where BFC pumped 5 goals with all Indian line up and beating Lao 2-1 in the home leg before losing to JDT in the final encounter of group stage 3-0 in Johor. With 3 wins and 3 loss in the mixed performance, placed second in the standing. Vineeth and Alywn netted brace in the group stage and scoring was distributed well among the team.

Round of Sixteen - Kitchee 2-3 BFC
Bengaluru’s Round of 16 elimination last year at the hands of Kitchee’s rival South China and they got off to a poor start again as Segovia put the hosts in front on seven minutes as he stooped to head in Lo Kwan Yee’s cross at the back post. Bengaluru responded to going behind, though, and were level just after the half-hour mark through captain Chhetri.

There was little respite in the second-half as after just six minutes Bengaluru where in front again.Lalhlimpuia chased down a poor back-pass by Annan and scored the 3rd goal. Both sides continued to probe forward in search of another goal, with Annan and Segovia both coming close for the home side and Chettri narrowly missing two more chances for his hat-trick before limping off with an apparent hamstring injury in the 78th minute. BFC manage to hold the game till end and progressed to next stage of the competition.

Quarter Finals - BFC 1-0 Tampines Rovers

During the break between seasons, Ashley Westwood was replaced , Albert ROCA is the captain of the ship. 3 imports was changed - JUAN ANTONIO, ALVARO RUBIO and WATSON joined BFC. New outlook of BFC looking forward for the draw and Tampines in the receiving end in this stage. Home leg for BFC was played in the closed door due to unrest in Bengaluru due to Kaveri Issue when Karnataka was fighting for Injustice.
This is a competition that gives us an opportunity that tells how and where we have to improve and assess ourselves - Albert Roca quoted.
Newly crowned I-League Champions started the new journey with early goal by Vineeth and it was single goal win for home side and A disciplined tactical performance from BFC saw them hold out for a goalless draw second leg encounter at Jalan Besar Stadium and advanced to the semi-finals 1-0 on aggregate at the expense of Tampines Rovers

    Semifinals - BFC 4-2 JDT

BFC facing the defending Champions and BFC never won against JDT in the previous encounters. BFC lost JDT 2-1 in the ACL at start of the year and 3-0 away and 1-0 Home leg loss in the group stage. It was huge task in the BFC hand and 3rd Indian club to reach semi-final of AFC Cup. Stake was high for this encounter.

    First Leg
A goalless first half saw Bengaluru goalkeeper Arminder Singh deny a potential Johor goal with a point-blank save to keep out a Martin Lucero header midway in the first half.in the 52nd minute though when Pererya Diaz nodded home a Safiq Rahim corner at the far post. The lead only lasted four minutes when Eugeneson Lyngdoh produced a 22-yard screamer that sailed into the net. BFC ended Johor Darul Ta'zim's perfect home record in the AFC Cup as they held the defending champions to a 1-1 draw in the semi-final first leg

    Second Leg
    -
21379 - Highest attendance in this year competition  saw the dominating performance by BFC. It  was the visitor who cancelled the away goal advantage which BFC had at 11. Undeterred by the early setback, Bengaluru kept up the pressure with Chhetri and Lyngdoh causing problems for the Johor defense with their intelligent plays up front. After missing several chances, Magical Sunil Chettri rose to head home another Lyngdoh corner inside the box to level the score. The skipper was rewarded again in the 68th minute when he beat a Johor defender before unleashing an unstoppable dipping shot from outside. Antonio put the icing on the cake for the expectant home crowd 13 minutes from time when he headed home a Lyngdoh free kick from 30 yards inside the box to complete and help Bengaluru reach the AFC Cup final. Sunil Chhetri produced an inspired captain’s display to lead Bengaluru FC, First Indian Club to the final of AFC Cup after they ended Johor Darul Ta’zim’s title defense with a 3-1 semi-final second leg win at home to advance 4-2 on aggregate.

I think fanai will replace nishu..
    Udanta might play too
One week back they were expected to come back from injury.
    Any news?
  • It depends on their fitness. But i doubt coach will make any changes. Though Udanta coming in for Alwyn would be good
