As I look into the Calendar and Navratra Sthapana (as we call it) on 21st September, Chaturthi on 24th, Durgashtami on 28th September - whole 9-10 days is holidays there? School College closed / half day, Office closed or what ??
Durga Pujara you know is the Biggest Festival in Bengal. Actually the holidays start more or less with Mahalaya which is on 19th this year I think. Durga Pratima sthapana starts from Tritiya, Chaturthi & big-big-big crowd start visiting pandals from Chaturthi. Therefore I am a bit sceptical about Police permitting Derby on 24th. Utpal dada should have known & acted accordingly otherwise he will once more see a Joker in himself.
It is not at all normal to hold derby during Puja festivities. @AKB rightly said that the Puja spirit begins from Mahalaya itself and it would be difficult for the police to permit the derby during that time...having said that,the actual Durga Puja starts from Sasthi, 26th September and ends on Dashami, 30th September...even then, holding the derby so late would pose a challenge...but then the IFA has never been known to adhere to any logic and have of penchant of making normal things abnormal
