Guess, the problem is the Budget for Fcgoa. They are not making money (with just 10 k attendance last game ) and want to cut losses.

But unfortunately, Sergio Lobera who signed for only 1 year last season and already the highest paid coach, is demanding a rise in pay, which the mgmt dont want to pay. In addition, he kept criticising the management for not signing 7th foreigner and once again criticised them when they sold Liston Colaco to Hyderabad FC

The Managment would have thought, he has gone overboard and given the number of spanish coaches available in market , they decided to pull the plug

But isn't that a mistake ? Management should not interfere in football matters. Any properly managed club should ask Coach's consent at the critical point of season before selling.

@giridharan But they want to cut losses... the coach has to be bit flexible as well... Already they have given increments to retain their foreign players and club cannot continue in losses forever... Not much revenue stream despite playing good football

FC Goa Season Review 2019/20: Expectations and the art of living up to it

“ You look at where you’re going and where you are and it never makes much sense, but then you look back at where you’ve been and a pattern seems to emerge. And if you project forward from that pattern, then sometimes you can come up with something. .”
Robert M. Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values

Goans love football. Enough to say that out of the 100 greatest moments in the life of a Goan, you might be safe to say that 20 were associated with football. You actually might be underestimating that number.

It might be 30 or even 40.

At the pinnacle of their embodiment of that love stands FC Goa. The Gaurs in six years, have transformed themselves into more than just a football club. The club stands tall as a belief, an idea of pride and of hope. Delivering joy in the best way they can – on the football pitch.

Heading into the season, that hope had metamorphosed into expectations. And there were fair reasons for the same. After having reached the playoffs in each of the last two seasons (reaching the final last season thanks to some impressive performances, especially in the opposing half), the Gaurs ensued to grab their first piece of silverware with a triumph in the Super Cup in 2019.

    .............................................................................................................................................................................................
On the surface of it all, success is all black and white. You either win it all or you don’t. But beneath that layer or visage, is where the things that are even more beautiful exist – the memories, the love, the fans, the expectations.

And that’s where FC Goa triumphed again.

It’s those journeys to the Fatorda, strolling around the stadium – in an ocean of Orange. The away trips where, outnumbered, the Gaur faithful shouted their lungs out for they believed.

We all know how it ended. It was the final gut-wrenching night of the season.

And even within that hallowed feel of pain, there was pride. The Gaurs gave their all and even when the numbers dictated that they score 4 in the space of 10 odd minutes, there were expectations that the Gaurs would do it.

Sometimes, to travel is greater than to arrive.

The Men in Orange, for one more season, delivered yet again. The bottom line might have remained a bit blurry, but the journey was once again one to rejoice for.

While the aim for the Gaurs would always be to reach the summit, they are a timely reminder that even in football it’s the sides of the mountain which sustain life, not the top.

If Mandar, Hugo, Coro, Jacki , Edu, Jahou , Manvir everyone is leaving, then how will they compete effectively inACL.. Already our points are low.... And they have started rebuilding with a new coach, who may need another 3 years to form a strong team like lobera did

Thats the whole point why we should have longer season which ends just before AFC competitions so that team dynamics dont change drastically.

Of late Mandar and especially Manvir weren't effective and Gama is a very capable replacement for Mandar + a backup lb has been signed (Sanson)

Coro was getting old anyways and this was probably his last season regardless of the coach.

Jacki was good but still very inconsistent. Was offered a huge deal by Jamshedpur so he joined them. FC Goa did the correct thing and immediately signed two replacements in the form of Tlang and Chothe.

According to Marcus Mergulhao, Edu leaving is a baseless rumour and he is willing to stay with the club.

And Boumous' words are being taken out of context. He said that with the season he had he's bound to get some offers from higher clubs which he will go to but due to the Corona situation in Europe, all the leagues and transfer windows are postponed so he doesn't see a move happening this time. He'll definitely remain for this season.

FC Goa only need to work hard to retain the services of Fall and Jahouh or atleast one of the two

Yes that's correct. The statement i mentioned of Hugo was almost a week ago after he confirmed with another statement about the corona situation. Still there is a slight possibility he will look to stay in Europe if a right offer comes, since now he made his intent clear.

FC goa should have an alternative ready for the worse case now.
