“We want to convert the Rabindra Sarovar into a world class stadium. It shall be made at any cost, be it Rs. 100 crore or Rs. 150 crore. We are waiting for the formalities to get completed,” Patel revealed

The Telegraph

Man! This guy is serious abt Indian Football. RESPECT
This guy is ‘seriously’ sleeping over the state of affairs for the last two years. I am tired of hearing of rosy proposals (and his snoring), let’s see some progress. For example ARE we going to see the next league matches live, or not? Next I-league starts in 3 months, and yet there are no signs of the broadcaster, or even a sponsor! Can we have a little more respectable ranking, like upwards of 110? May we be spared of the PSU teams, and have corporate teams instead (aw, forget it, can we just prevent corporate deserting Indian football)? He has gone on record that he doesn’t care.

I think I am asking for the heavens … sorry …

Agree with you, there is hardly any build-up to new season.Majority of Clubs don't even have their own websites and there is not a single sign of merchandise, sponsorship etc.

I-League is yet to get Broadcast partner, sponsors and even a basic website which can provide transfers news, maintain stats, provide pics, league news, video highlights etc etc.

Adding to all these wounds is that whopping number of 11(can be 12 if Viva Chirag shift) Teams from I-League only represent pitiful 3 Indian states out of possible 28.

All these issues are just killing the fun.

They are all good with words only. I'll believe it when it happens.

What ever fans Indian Football has are all because of national team, nobody(excluding few die hard fans) gives a hoots about I-League(Thanks to the way its run and the way clubs conduct themselves).

Will be interesting to see what AIFF do with this Mega Fail.Fulfill at least their 5% promises or make it far worse.

AIFF( IMG) is in the process of negotiating TV rights , but a couple of stumbling blocks exist.

If they opt for an ESPN/STAR the matches cannot be played on Saturday night or Sunday evening.

Although this would help clubs like Mumbai FC , Pune FC & others to maximize their attendance & thus revenue, ESPN/STAR will not broadcast as this would conflict with the much more lucrative EPL and Spanish league matches.

If they opt for a Ten Action the similar situation would arise.
Any clash with EPL / Spanish league would be an obvious choice for fans watching on TV , therefore resulting in reduced TRP and thus less advertising revenue for AI$$

Weekday matches to fill the time for broadcasters when they normally show repeat telecast or other sports wouldn't help the clubs like Mohun Bagan, East Bengal etc who expect large revenue from their home matches.

This impasse looks to suit the rich Goan clubs as they continue on their dominance of the I-league.

The 40 matches cap that the AIFF have imposed on i-league players should be scrapped, instead a win-win situation for clubs & the federation can be created by selecting top 60 players for the 40 matches cap per season (including U-23squad) or so which can be called up for national duty & the rest can be allowed to play any number of matches.

Where are "TOP 60" players? AIFF wont even find 30 players suitable for NT. And anyway, why do u think those who dont get national call ups shud work like donkeys. Also, no-one knows who will get national call except for few set players. so theres no point in ur point

The teams have started to practice. Till now, there are no signs of sponsors or TV rights ... AIFF is still 'on the verge' of making a deal.
• 1) Regular Telecasting.
2) Good Stadium with crowd.
3) More advertising.
