Maybe SC aims to qualify for AFC Asian cup without a defeat which would be a achievement for him. And in asian cup, people will anyways have no hope by pitted against big teams and say better luck next time, we are improving, next is ours, new talents etc., Qualifying itself is enough speeches.
This, I think, is one of his political moves (probably to win over the rebellious GFA or IFA by holding this carrot), or may be a new brainstorm to milk FIFA.
For, a centre of excellence is at the top of the academy pyramid; cadets are generally picked up on merit from regional academies, which are totally absent in PP kingdom. Without regional network of academies, 'centre of excellence' does not mean anything. In fact, another such attempt (at the expense of FIFA's money) of establishing academies at various places of the country got snuffed out. The money probably ended up in his pocket. Why not revive that?
Second, this is the job of the clubs, not the Fed. Clubs doing this would generate a multitude of options. The Fed doing this would only breed favoritism and incompetence. The Fed should only facilitate professional atmosphere for clubs to come up.
Third, 'world class'? LOL, we first make and operate an academy of the Chinese level where they line up 40 training pitches for a club (our esteemed TFA with single pitch is a joke). Will think of world class later.
I am skeptic. And worried for the imminent plunder of money.
