Over the weekend in Bengaluru, Adidas organised an exhibition of Godbole’s striking photos of football in Kashmir, which reveal a different side to a region always perceived by outsiders as dangerous and conflict-prone.
Kashmir is dangerous and conflict prone. It's a shame that our national cricket team wouldn't play anywhere in J&K however our clubs are forced to play in a sub par ground with zilch security barriers. Who will take responsibility if someone lobs a grenade from those stands? RKFC or AIFF? Bunch of morons in Football House Delhi.
One has to give chance for Peace. NIT Srinagar has so many students from different states. Tourists do come and visit Gulmarg. Thousands of Kashmir students come and study in Kota for IIT / medical coaching. If common people can do it, Football clubs can also play. These are all peace initiatives.
I remember that in the 80s, 90s- every North East State was militancy infested. National Games, Santosh trophy in Manipur and later on in Assam helped and now Sporting events are regular there.
Under the surface, tensions are there whether it is North East, Kashmir. But as long as sporting events cultural events are not cancelled- its a good sign.
Total blocking of Pakistani terrorist from over the border and Pakistani funding and training of local terrorist groups and stone Pelter's will solve the problem of Kashmir. Also Diredicalization camps for kashmiri youth and jobs for Kashmiri's in others parts of India will help in socializing.
@munna219777 You didn't answer the question, who will be responsible if there is an attack? All clubs should demand RKFC home matches be moved out of J&K or they be played with no spectators.
@EastBengalPride EB should be banned from playing from Kolkata and that too salt lake as in past there fans have hurled Sutli bombs on pitch which has hurt players
@EastBengalPride Such decision and security assessments are taken by local government at Police City SP and Srinagar Deputy Commissioner level. They are organising the event. If there are any issues, they will take initiative in cancelling the event. Resposibility lies on the shoulder of local club, administration and other clubs need to give them support , trust !!!!
Whatever I have seen is welcoming and football loving crowd which has supported Indian players from other states playing in RKFC as well as Foreign players.
Sports are meant to build bridges. If Football succumb to petty politics, this will mean that Bad guys have won- this is what they want .
