Durand Cup 2023 to start from August 3; will have two new host cities
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the 132nd Durand Cup football tournament, today announced Shillong in Meghalaya and Kokrajhar in Assam, as the newest host cities for the legendary football tournament. This year’s tournament, now the traditional season-opener in India’s domestic footballing calendar, has been scheduled between August 03-September 03, 2023, the committee also announced.
Besides the new host cities and venues, the 132nd Durand Cup edition will see many more firsts including the participation of the popular Shillong Lajong football club, among others.
This Durand Cup edition will also see full spectators for the entire length of the tournament for the second time post the pandemic, across the four host cities of Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong and Kokrajhar.
The 3 new facilities inaugurated by the CM are top notch. Odisha FA, Bhuvaneshwar FA, Capital Arena FA under the cost of 90Cr. The facilities are top notch. All 6 pitches will have gallery, Gym, Floodlights and other facilities. One of it will be used by Odisha and will get 2 training pitches right next to the Kalinga stadium. Impressive move in taking football along with hockey in Odisha. Hope Odisha make the best out of this move.
