Where are the FIFA grants going I don't understand ? If Im not wrong the Academies are not like even 3 star to be honest, also the amount of exposure has been close to nil(except for playing some Dutch College team and local Senior teams they not played anything else Internationally).

Again, for the conferences, shit idea from IMG or AIFF.

Well now they are saying only about academy-they have forgotten stadium. Conferences well they want to reduce travelling expenses or what? Or they are not expecting much crowd support when east meets west. All Franchise MLS model is good but then what to do with century old clubs like Mohun Bagan. So this conference idea I guess is one experiment. Lets see how they plan it. Anyways with no national team commitment, we will have more time next season with no breaks for national camps.

    :P

I dont get that. The conferences will reduce travel? Fucking hell, my Red Bulls play in a league with conferences, they had to travel from Phoenix to Portland (1,300 miles), then Portland to San Jose (500 miles) and then will have to fly all the way to New York from San Jose (3,000 miles).

In total that is 4,800 (estimated) miles in 2.5 weeks! Reduce travel! Forget about it. Yes, the Red Bulls will play more teams on the East than the West but that is not because of the Conferences, that is because of the fact that we have 19 teams and we play with an unbalanced schedule (As in each team does not do 2 games home and away with each other, some teams play 3 times).

As for what to do with East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. Well I dont know. Both clubs are shit and are only surviving on sponsorships anyway. In any competent league East Bengal or Mohun Bagan would have folded a long time ago. No actual league that actually cares about being financially strong or viable would select Mohun Bagan or East Bengal in their current states so I dont care about them. The only thing they would provide to a franchise league is their name because that actually attracts fans, other than that they would provide nothing.

So Akram Moghrabi didnt go to any club in UAE. Strange, then how did Churchill Brothers release him? and Where is his friend Bilal Narjarin then?

  • Actually let me change that. The Red Bulls went 1,300 miles to Portland from Arizona. Then they travel 3,000 miles to New York and then just yesterday (the day before their next match) they travel 3,000 miles to San Jose. And they will travel 3,000 miles back to New York for next week.

Over 9,000 miles in 2 weeks. Conferences dont reduce travel.

Talking about travel, well travel facilities have improved a lot in Indian football. Many years ago, I saw Mahindra United team returning from Calcutta after winning Federation cup (2003 or 2004) by train to Bombay at Kurla Station. I was at that platform trying to catch some other train. Only Air India had facility of air travel. Mohun Bagan, East Bengal used to stay at Pahargunj hotels near New Delhi Railway Station (those 800 rupees daily hotels) and travel by bus to Ludhiana for JCT games. now all teams stay at quality hotels and travel by air. so Standards of travel and accomodation have improved in Indian Football as compared to 10 years back.

conferences will reduce travekll distance or I think that it will generate more spectators. Shillong crowd more interested in Sikkim game rather then Churchill brothers. I am worried abt infrastructure woes in West conference.

  • I think it is just to reduce travel. I dont see how attendance can improve with conferences. And also how will this be. MLS clubs play every other club at least once. It sounds like the East teams in I-League will only play the East while West will only play West.

    That would truly be shit.
