Thanks @gaffertape for the telecast update, I was about to write a longish rant on the blog against IMG-R and their ilk. You just saved some asses and eased my frustration
The 2nd friendly match between India and Palestine, which was scheduled on October 9, 2014 at the Kanchenjunga Stadium, Siliguri, have been cancelled, an AIFF media released informed.
According to the release, AIFF have been forced to cancel the match as Palestine have committed themselves for another friendly against Pakistan during the same FIFA window.
And according to FIFA regulations, no team can play more than two-friendly during a stipulated friendly window.
The FIFA dates in October run from October 6-14, 2014.
However, the first International Friendly on October 6 will be played as scheduled.
“AIFF have been intimated by the Palestine Football Federation that as they have already committed their availability to the Pakistan Football Federation to play another International Friendly against Pakistan in the same FIFA Window, they are not in a position to play the second International Friendly against India on October 9,” the release read.
The release further had it that, “It was in August 2014 that Palestine Football Federation had signed an agreement with AIFF confirming their availability to play back to back International Friendlies against India in October 2014; the result of which the AIFF had to turn down Malaysia Football Federation’s request to play an International Friendly on October 9, 2014.”
If an agreement had really been signed between the two, it bewilders us as to how Palestine could commit themselves for another friendly against Pakistan.
And how could AIFF just let them get off, specially when it had to turn down an offer to play A FRIENDLY from Malaysia. Or is there anything else cooking because of the ISL, which kick starts on October 12.
Had the 2nd friendly gone through, all the ISL players in the National team would have been exhausted and furthermore they would have reached their respective teams earliest by 10th Oct evening.
Anyhow, the match on October 6 kicks-off at 5.30 PM.
Who cares. This game is a dud, lets be honest with ourselves. And honestly, do we really have confidence in India to win this game? Wim will probably not give two shites about this game, the players will be to focused on what is happening next week, and Palestine is actually decent and have to win to prove that they are ready for the Asian Cup... honestly, if this game was telecasted then whatever hype Indian football has will be gone.

No TV Crew in Venue ..
AIFF media manager clearly told one of my friend that there is no telecast before today practice session.
