Koevermans: Development of young players in India is below par
“The future should be that all the I-League clubs should have decent youth development in their club, that is, a good Under-15, Under-17, Under-19 programs. So if you have 12 clubs in the I-League that all have a good youth department, that makes 12 times an Under-15 team, 12 times an Under-17 team and 12 times and Under-19 team. So that's a lot of boys for scouting and a lot of boys for development,” he shared his vision.
The Under-19 league last season lasted for close to two months and Koevermans mentioned that it doesn’t allow coaches enough time to work on the tactical discipline but instead there are only recovery sessions.
“The Under-19 league was of a very low level. It was I think a maximum of only two months where they played every other day. So the training sessions are just recovery, and the players do not learn much. We bring players together; we train them up quickly and then play some games for two months. That is how it was run.
Those were some ideas which we had been expected since the launch of Lakhsya 2022... but the reducing days to 2022 yr, the chances of its successful implementation is also getting reduced
@gaffertape is it gonna be overtake which would mean ESSEL group wont be owner/co-owners any more or merger of the club?? which one seems most likely??
