This was the finals of an inter village tournament. It takes place on the feast day of the Raia church. Its taking place for the last 43 years.

Okay. Thanks. I guess that helps then explain the high attendance... unless this is somehow a regular occurrence during normal matches.

Regular matches also got higher attendence than a I league game. :((

Will do. I am just trying to figure out here how popular these games actually are and what gets fans to them. We see village games do well, we see random local games in the NorthEast do well. The Nagpur Premier League did very well years ago. The Malabar Premier League drew a good crowd as well. Same with local-games for East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. The match Bagan played in Jammu and Kashmir years ago did well as well.

A lot of things for me point towards how much these games cost to see.

the main problem of I-league is No promotion 99% people of goa know about I league but they don't know when matches are played and also our youth who are euro fans will never watch I league because of quality. most of my friends tease me when I say I follow I league. its hard to find Indian football fans in our youth.

I-league game is the best place to be when ur drunk and cant go home.. you have a lot of space between each fan so they can stretch and sleep.

people also dont have to worry if matches are over in 90 mins as usually an i-league match extends upto 110-120 mins due to "injuries". 150 mins if ur playing against mumbai FC

That I can understand. Its the same here in the US for me only with schools. No one in my area will follow the MLS teams, even with Henry and stuff, but we will come in massive groups to see our high-school play in a big game against fucking Bergen Catholic.

But what brought people to Fatorda Stadium in the past for I-League? Even just before I-League the signs were showing for small crowds since 2009.

That is why I have been advocating that ileague teams should wake up and start playing at smaller venues.....a full ground of even 4-5k is better than 10% full Fatorda and that ways ileague would reach the masses. It seems to me that there is very little effort in matchday planning and venues by ileague teams. For e.g. I see no reason why an ileague match can't be played at the venue shared by @Dominic....., seems like a fabulous venue....which ground is it??
