The proposal for India Team is to play Afghanistan during Nowruz Festival. It is celebrated between March 5th to March 20th. It will not be on FIFA match dates. It would have been better if this match was played as Official FIFA Friendly. It is going to be unofficial game. Our Government has friendly relations with Afghanistan and for them, it is a very popular contest. Their Government will take care of Security for such important game. Two dates are in 20 to 28th March but we maybe playing Third Round of AFC Asia Cup Qualifiers that time. With I-League and AFC Cup also in March, it will be a very busy time for India Football.
We had fruitful discussions on the status of league football in India. The AIFF's plans for the proposed league structure were again discussed but the AFC is extremely clear on this matter. Any decisions on the structure of the game in India are for the AIFF executive committee, not the AFC," AFC general secretary Dato Windsor John said after the second task force meeting in Goa on Wednesday
The match will be in MArch. So, no threat to ISL. But I-League will be in full swing by that time and also, AFC Cup committments of BFC and MB. Add to that AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. Players will have a lot on their plates. Wonder if AIFF will send an A Team?
