As a marquee? Maybe in 2014 but not now. Guy last played in the German 3rd division and barely made a dent, and before that was the J2 League! FC Pune City might as well go without a marquee instead of waste money on him. Even Luis Garcia played more at a higher level last season.
Honestly I would sign a marquee from last season like Simao or bring back Tuncay. Or you might as well convince Rayo OKC to let Georgios Samaras leave early as the team is most likely to fold anyway.
So taking this thread into another direction, after looking at the Kerala Blasters squad after two games, I am personally disappointed. They did not build there team correctly and so far I don't have much hopes for them finals chances wise... hope to be proven wrong though. Graham Stack looked okay so far but on paper, compared to others, is a 5th division English league player. Cedric Hengbart is 36 and has obviously lost a step or two, Josu barely even played in the US 3rd division last season, German looks selfish and average, Nazon and Belfort are meh, Chopra is crap. Hughes looks good but that is it. Kadio and Mahmat are not even playing!
I mean, I understand wanting to get a good partner for Aaron Hughes so why not get someone younger and from a better league like Jerome Polenz or Zak Anderson. Hell, if they wanted someone who has played regularly, look to Asia! Why are ISL teams not doing that? Nor Mansour of Lebanon or even Safuwan Baharudin of Singapore are guys similar to who they could have looked at.
Even in other positions like attack. Look around some of the Asian leagues. Gaston Merlo in Vietnam, Uche Iheruome, or maybe try finding another Velez in Singapore. Why settle for guys like Nazon and Belfort... unless of course money is still fucking tight there.
