Gerard Van der Lem Former Van Gaal’s assistant applies for India job

The former Ajax and Barcelona assistant manager has expressed his interest to replace countryman Wim Koevermans…

Gerard Van der Lem is the most high profile name to be in contention for the job of Indian national coach after Wim Koevermans resigned from his position earlier this week.

If this guy comes in we will again have same situation as Wim's.....we need some one who knows indian football and footballers.....Is it possible for westwood to have dual roles of Bengaluru as well as NT????

Since that's possible....Westwood along with his Bengaluru backroom staff's would be perfect..... just hope BFC owners permit.

Westwood followed by TJM..we need a coach who can instill a winning mentality..forget style pf play etc

Bob was better in winning mentality then Wim Koevarmans?? No coach play for losing. That time everyone was criticising Bob, Bulpin for Long Ball and they wanted tiki-taka. By the way, Westwood is British and so is TJM.

At this point of time there is no point in discussing which style of play should we adapt to because we cannot adapt to any style of play due to our poor skill set. At least any style that involves possession and swift passing is not for us. Bob's direct football was somewhat suitable and he got results initially. No one contested that. But he stuck to the same set of players rather than introducing new talents, e.g. he just let Lalkamal rot away! And it reflected in his later performances when the legs got older. 9-1 defeat against Kuwait was a direct result of his lame policy. But soehow, he generated more respect from players and fans alike, something Wim would never manage to.

Bob Houghton bought India from nothing to an Asian Cup and Challenge Cup champions... Wim made us fail to beat Bangladesh... I wonder why Bob got more respect?

As for Gerard Van der Lem... unless the guy has the power to select his own backroom staff then we should not take the chance. The guy has a better resume than Wim but like people said, the problem can not be solved just with a senior coach.

I am still against Ashley Westwood and Praydum Reddy but am also against Trevor Morgan or Karim Bencherifa.
