Former Barcelona and Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes has retired from football and deleted his social media accounts.
Valdes, 35, has been without a club since leaving Middlesbrough last summer following their relegation to the Championship.
Mundo Deportivo reported at the time that he would retire. However, there was no official announcement until, on Jan. 1, Valdes posted a picture on Instagram of a sunset with the caption: "Thanks for everything."
The former Spain international then deleted his Twitter and Instagram accounts, as he had suggested he would do in 2015.
"I don't enjoy the fame," he told RAC1 two years ago. "When this all ends, I'll be with my children, teaching them about life. I hope when the lights go out it will be difficult for people to find me."

ইস্টবেঙ্গল-মোহনবাগান অনেক বড় দল এবং তাদের ফ্যানেদের প্রতি পূর্ন সন্মান জানিয়েই বলছি এইবার থেকে অন্তত এটিকে সাপোর্টারদের "প্লাস্টিক" বলার আগে একবার ভাববেন, কাজের দিনেও রাত ১টার সময় কিন্তু তারা মাঠে থেকে দলকে সমর্থন জানাল, আপনারা থাকতেন তো? ফ্রি টিকিট বাহানা আপনারা দিতেই পারেন কিন্তু মনে রাখবেন ফ্রি-টিকিট এ মাঠে লোক ঢুকতে পারে, দলকে ভাল না বাসলে, ফুটবলকে না ভালবাসলে রাত ১টা অবধি কেউ মাঠে থাকবে না!

Yah we may be a 4 year old club , we don't have a tent at Maidan , we don't have own ground But if you tell me we don't have passion, don't have support and we don't have attachment and love for the club you will lie. And its completely a misconception.
Yesterday night YBK created history and of course the history created by our fans. Yesterday we saw the kick off time delayed by merely 3hrs but yet our 20 thousand fans waited till the kick off time to support their beloved club and to observe them play.
On a chilling winter night like yesterday despite knowing that they can't reach the home after the end of the game, nearly 10 thousand fans stayed at the ground till the final whistle blown. And they felt their presence by the vociferous screaming through out the match.
We thanked and applaud our fans for their wonderful display of love and support for their club. Despite hardness they stayed there till the end and we are thankful for that. And believe me yesterday we didn't draw the match, we win the match and at last our fan win the match, the mecca of football win the match.
Mohun Bagan & East Bengal are two big teams and with due respect to their fans, we will say, from now on, before you called an ATK fan "PLASTIC" , you will surely think once if not twice.
Despite a working day, our supporter stayed there till 1 am, if situation occur will you( EB & MB Fans) be there.??
You may show the excuses of free tickets but remember one thing, " free ticket can brings spectator to the ground but no one will stay that late if they don't have love and feelings for their club".
