One thing is good ISL is trying to sign these AIFF academy/U-19 players. But this makes me wonder, a) How many games will they get in coming 1-2 seasons with such a short league? b) What are the ISL owners planning with them for the rest of the season (loan to I-league or loan to abroad)? c) Why can't the I-league teams do the same with AIFF academy/U-19 players for themselves? Correct me if I am wrong, except BFC, I havent seen much.
BFC signed 3 SHILLONG Lajong signed 3 also... DSK signed 1 Dempo signed a few a couple of years back like Haydon Fernandes. SCdeGoa had Delbert ..and also picked up a few from SESA
Clubs can't sign U19 players every year. If they did in 5 years they would have 15 U23 player's...
And it's not like you can discard a player at 32..( don't forget we have 26 yr old 35 year olds )
ISL teams are all number crunching...and filling the developmental quota ( U22) & free agent quota is easiest by signing such boys.
Agree with Gaffer here, I-League teams have always taken in U19 and U23 players and even given them playing time while that has not really happened much in ISL.
How good will be Steve Copell..that's the question, hasnt really managed much since 2010 and also considering English coaches have been failures in ISL(No disrespect to the old man)... Personally I feel, kbfc should have gone for a non British coach.
