find it wierd ppl still attach importance to attendences. thats so 70's. in todays modern game its the tv revenue that matters & sponsership and sales. attendences is just a drop in an ocean. used to just offset maintainence.
i would be extremly glad if chennaiyin can win despite having only 5k attendences.
oh come on. if any one love to see a game in tv, they definitely will attend the game in stadium if they get chance ( for example if you have opportunity to watch an epl team live in stadium / in tv which one will you choose). so match attendence is representative of total viewership. so please @DX
Attendance is key to create the atmosphere. Without this crowd, TV viewing will not be fun and ISL will only look marginally better than I league. The commitment from the players also change. Most people who go Gaga about the quality are also psychologically biased due to the atmosphere. Crowd is the major attraction, more than del Piero.
yesterday there were utd arsenal chelsea fans there at stadium giving a miss to top class football for a just above avg game in isl.. because it is stadium where you could feel the pulse of watching the game....
and also attendance gives a good fund too.. say if 20 k tickets are sold and average price at 200 rs means they earn around 40 lacs which is a significant amount...not a drop in ocean definitely
atmosphere or ambience is just a mirage. you can get an awesome atmosphere in bangalore with max capacity of 7800.
even kalyani stadium has a small capacity but if ppl fill that up.. presto you have an atmosphere which would look awesome on telly.
you would need an enthusiatic hype generating tv crew to show as if u have something happening big there.
regarding 40 lakhs.. i expected more but still looking at it in the books. 40lakhs is just an offset to maintainence plus if any surplus security charges to the police.
its still a drop in the ocean. if a club has to breakeven it has to look for tv revenue+ sponsership+ sales windfall. no wonder you hardly get any club which can breakeven in world football.
