wow what a game!! just came back after seeing the match and must say isl has organised it pretty well. have to hand it to chennai ppl. all age groups and fam were there to see. an attendance of 16500+ for a weekday match in a city which has not seen any proper football matches thanks to the smart ppl in Aiff is just amazing.
the most important thing is the crowd wants to learn as well and have not just come for the hype of it. couple of fans genuinely asked questions on rules and player details so they can also see and understand the game better.
also the entire area prior and post the match resembled like a carnival with esp kids carying the chennaiyin flags home. Also were proud ppl in bikes and cars in showcasing the flags in front so all can see it till they reach home.
all of this only spells sucess. as far as the match itself. mumbai looked shocked entire match and there was only one team playing in it. anelka was a dud and marco himself played defensive midfield till the 60th min was a bonus. won crucial headers and interceptions to keep it tidy at the back.
really glad jeje scored. kept the ball well and didnt look out of place. happy for mendonza to score after all the hard work recently he put in. mumbai couldnt handle him.
defense hardly was troubled except for the goal which shilton could have done better with.
Elano.. what can i say? best ever player to play professionally in india? not only the best marquee but best player of the ISL by a long mile. what quality dribbling, what movement of the ball. massive threat from setplays. only a true brazilian can do it and he did it with ease. bless chennai for seeing him play.
Those who do not follow ISL, will cry afterwards to know that such classy players had played in ISL in season 1. And its just the first season. Elano is Epic! Though he was a dud in Delhi game

Denson had a good game. Specially long ball over the defence. But he needs to work on his tackles as he gives away too many free kicks outside the box. Harmonjot had a good game too. He provided one nice lofted long ball for Mendoza too. But mind it they had towering presence of Marco and awesome Elano with them. When you play with such greats automatically your game gets lifted.
