People act like we never have lost before to SAFF teams or suffered from a pitch... this is nothing new. Fucking Nigeria manages to win U17 World Cups with Syria and Myanmar getting into the U17 and U20 World Cups respectively. Youth football... defying logic!
At the end of the day, I want to see how many of these guys end up being professional from India and Bangladesh... history has always been good to India.
Real question is what lessons #IMG allows #AIFF to learn from this....ideally a country of our size can absorb 1 quality academy per state which plays regular international football. Also we need a bigger pool of professional and semi pro football playing national/reigonal leagues allowing tge young academy graduates to play regular competitive football in a professional set up. There is no way even a 2nd string Indian side should not be dominating bangladesh, there has to be consequences after such performances (more with scouts and coaches and less to players)....we set very low benchmarks/standards for ourselves
well to be honest the real picture will be clear in a few months when the AFC qualifiers happen..even though we have qualified for finals as hosts but if our A team qualifies via group stages then thats what matters..Bangla may be thinking that winning a SAFF u-16 at home puts them in the right direction will also only come to light based on their AFC qualifiers results..till then lets all of us hold on to our horses
I see no reason to claim the B team as rejects. Not even in the top leagues in Europe do trophies and winning at Youth levels count or is looked upon as the primary criteria to judge what are essentially kids. Academies of Lisbon and Ajax apart, most other academies regualrly participate in youth tournaments, and logic dictates that only one team will win a tournament. Should the other academies then give up and close down? Rubbish comments from EastBenaglPride dude.
A box full of emotions there in EB pride's post. Similar to what we have in this forum, Purists, Anarchists, Pro/Anti I-league/ISL,Euro fanatics... Am pretty sure even two people here dont have a single common position on all things.
Of course it is disappointing for us fan. How do you think those kids are feeling then? Nobody wants to loose, but we at least have the extra maturity to comprehend the real primary need for SAFF U16 cups and other youth tournaments - to develope young players.
