AFC Pro License Holder, Francisco Bruto da Costa, has been announced as an assistant coach for NorthEast United for the upcoming Indian Super League campaign. da Costa, who hails from Goa, is only 34 years old and has went through all the licensing levels of the AFC. He has been assistant for the AIFF for the national under-19 and under-17 teams and has been a coach for the AIFF Elite Academy.

Good luck to him with NorthEast United, good to see young, potentially good Indian coaches come up

I dont think that's the only reason. Nelo Vingada knows very good English. And if he wanted he could easily have got someone from Portugal

Rules of ISL stipulates a mandatory Indian assistant coach, innit?

Yep but I believe gaffer mentioned how some teams get out of it by just hiring them as "coaches" or just by not using them at all.
