    Because he plays for Chirag United, who are from West Bengal.

    Players are selected based on where the club team they play for is located, not based on state of origin.

    If Branco signed for FC Cochin, he would play for Kerala. If he signed for Pune FC, he'd play for Maharashtra. Makes no difference if the player himself is Goan.

    I wish from next season players are selected from their place of origin as because it would bring in a lot of passion in the tournaments from the weaker states. But if this happens teams such as railways, services etc cannot participate and in return teams from union teritorries can participate

    According to today times of india newspaper aiff is planning to hold santosh trophy just like bcci hold ranji trophy i.e. a 2 division affair.
