Game was a self destruct,should have won it easily. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cry.gif" alt="" title="Crying or Very Sad" /><!-- s -->
Indian Defenders played their hearts out,hats-off to them. <!-- s:ugeek: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_ugeek.gif" alt=":ugeek:" title="Uber Geek" /><!-- s:ugeek: -->
If only we could convert the chances that came our way..guess we didnt deserve to go thru..mayb next time <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
A Team like Malaysia which was destroyed 4-0 by Qatar is going through after beating Lebanon 2-1. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cry.gif" alt="" title="Crying or Very Sad" /><!-- s -->

Here are my thoughts on the match. I didn't watch the first half so feel free to correct me if you think i'm wrong.
1) Qatar were not the better team today. The teams were pretty evenly matched.
2) Qatar were technically more proficient, but our defence and midfield were more 'busy' and cut down Qatari midfield's space to operate.
3) Our forwards lacked finishing ability (both Jeje and Manandeep), and their defence was pretty good at clearing danger at the first go (and with pretty well directed clearances).
4) While our central midfield was pretty nonexistant for the first 3/4ths of the match, int he last 25 minutes they did try to keep posession and move the ball forward. It wasn't that the team abandoned the long ball strategy, the defence still did that, its just that we won back posession in the midfield quite often and then moved the ball forward.
5) Shilton and Jibon didn't show up much through the game. Dika and Jewel were more effective on the right.
6) Defense was generally solid, especially Raju & Gurjinder on the left; Arnab & Abhishek on the right were not as good especially when they left their man unmarked to allow Qatar to score the goal.
Bottom line, better finishing would have allowed us to qualify. I guess we weren't the better team so we didn't deserve to make it through, but I do think this team is definitely closer to the top tier in Asia than past Indian teams. I really hope these guys either stay with the Arrows or a part of the first 11 in their respective teams for the next season.
Good effort...i just wanted a good effort, never expected them to qualify...
No point talking about long balls...this is the way this team has been trained for many years and all their success came with such strategies only....if we want to change then change it in junior teams

And I have't seen such goals(I'm not considering shit SAFF teams) since Bob Houghton & English brigade took over in 2006.
