Bhowanipore is virtually Bagan's 2nd team - hence most Bagan players, who Sanjoy have decided not to retain for the coming season have had to switch allegiance as they have found no takers from other clubs.
Sad to see such ending of Lalkamal, Ram Malik, Tirthankar and the lot ... they had so much potential ... politics and lack of will to take up challenges ended their carriers ...
Just for the uninitiated, Bhowanipore FC is kind of owned by MB and acts as a feeder club. Ram Malik has age on his side, a good CFL can turn his career around unless he has lost his focus. He had real talent.
Lalkamal : Has been on the job for more than a decade now; played primarily in Bagan and United; age is not on his side, so could be curtains for him. Manish/Tirthankar : talented, but has limitations and cannot excel beyond a point. Ram Malik : sums up the attitude of lot of Bengal players, who despite given enormous opportunity, would not work hard to do justice to their talents. Karim had given lot of opportunity to Ram Malik, Pankaj Moula, Souvik Ghosh , Pritam Kotal and was very protective in particular about Ram only to see Ram complaining to Bagan Mgmt about him!
And to be fair to Bagan management, they have been patient with these guys, but 3 years is more than enough to take a call on these guys.
Lalkamal, Ram Malik could somewhat get into Mumbai FC or SC Goa and play in I-League instead of relegating themselves to play in CFL and Second Division.
I guess they are personally not interested in going away from Kolkata
Lal's too old for I-League now and Ram needs to some game time to get his confidence back. CFL doesn't clash with I-League, if he can get his game back, Malik should eye NE teams rather than an ultra defensive MFC or physical ScG.
After Karim , Ram has not been utilised fully by Mohun Bagan also. A young talent can't seat every match in reserve bench and then if he get chance in one match it is very difficult for him or anybody to perform. Automatically he is demoralised.
Ram is one dimensional..... u have to bring in variety and innovation in ur game and which can only be possible if u r focussed in practice. He didnt. and he became an easy pick for the defenders with time.
