Can u put some number (in % term) as to what % of people who u consider "considerable number of people" purchase tickets @shanks_dehighliving . Very keen to know that!
Many like you may try to be politically correct(for obvious reasons though!)and sing praises for ISL knowing very well where it is now! Not sure, whether u r aware about the turnout in I-League matches in Wk#1
@Soccerlover first I could give you % but since you had already started with snide remark such as "How many people in ISL actually buy the tickets?" I really doubt how much you will believe it. Plus you are clever and resourceful man unlike me I am sure you can find out on your own and conclude it. still as you asked, in terms of ticket sales not every team is ATK and not every team is FC Goa/ KBFC , hope that answers both possibilities.
secondly since you were also pointing that "Many like you may try to be politically correct(for obvious reasons though!) please let me know whats are those obvious reasons? I know what are cons of both leagues , just that I dont bluntly accuse anything(first motive of posting comment was not to create ISL vs I league debate but just to correct silly points).
and third "whether u r aware about the turnout in I-League matches in Wk#1" I dont get why you assumed I am not aware of this? I watched almost all matches even though I was travelling . I didnt question anything about I league and I appreciate people attending matches in big numbers irrespective of its GPL.ISL/MPL or what not.
Attendance for I-League games will drop as the League progresses. NEROCA and Gokulam Kerala will continue to get good Crowd for their home matches. EB and MB will have good crowd if the matches are on weekends and 5 pm kick off otherwise expecting ~10k Average. Also they both have struggled to attract decent crowd for Non Derby matches at YBK. Chennai City had 8k in their opening fixtures and will improve as all their home matches have 5pm or 7:30 pm kick offs. Also their performance will have a huge impact on crowd numbers. Aizawl with increased capacity from 8k to 15k can expect in the range of 8-10k if their performance improves. Otherwise it will go below 5k.
Shillong Lajong attracted 14 k in their 1st home match which had 5 pm kick off on a weekend. Their performance and 5 pm kick offs will help boost the numbers. 2 pm kick off will hardly attract more than 5k.
Minerva Punjab: expecting less than 5k if they don't improve their performance given that all their home matches will have 2 pm kick off and they haven't done much to attract people to come to their home matches . With AIFF controlling Indian Arrows, there won't be any effort by them to attract crowd to their home matches in Cuttack and Bhubaneshwar. Expecting <5k.
Churchill Brothers: the only team from Goa to play in I-League hasn't attract huge fan previous years so expecting 3-5k average attendance.
Real Kashmir FC: Being their debut campaign in country's top division, will be expecting huge crowd for their home matches l. They had full house for theirI-League 2 matches, so expecting same for I-League. Though attendance may take hit huring winter as the stadium will be covered in snow.
That is one good analysis/ projection, @indianFootballFan . I also believe non-derby matches in YBK would downgrade the attendance stat of IL. And generally, the tempo will go down as the league progresses, albeit slightly.
Also, we should take the official attendance figures for all our analyses and discussion, knowing fully well that both the league sides fudge figures (well, some of them from both the sides) as we are not CBI or CAG. Though I don't know if I should take the attendance figures given by @DEFENCE123.
