I-League clubs should sign players from SAFF countries. This will help them gain popularity in those countries. We have seen this with the signing of Chencho and Bimal.
Exclusive: Delhi Dynamos rope in Minerva Punjab custodian Arshdeep Singh
The shot-stopper has signed a three-year deal with the Lions.
Indian Super League outfit Delhi Dynamos have snapped up Minerva Punjab custodian, Arshdeep Singh. The 22-year-old goalkeeper had shown great promise last season for Minerva Punjab, after joining from the AIFF Elite Academy back in 2015. He has signed a three-year contract with the Dynamos, keeping him at the club till 2022.
Pathetic signing once again from Chennayin FC... Not worthy of Top tier.... Ileague clubs are signing better players... Wish there was relegation in isl ...
@shanks_dehighliving Pathetic as far as resume is concerned.... u wanted foreigners playing in high quality leagues elsewhere to come, share their experience and improve the standard... Tats why isl had such restriction earlier... Not some random Nigerian or Afghani, who last played in bangladesh, something which ileague clubs used to do... Now even the ileague clubs have started signing european or south american plyrs from better footballing countries.. Guess John gregory is losing the plot and might be sacked by December...
u Can argue that he is gud.. if he had been good enough, he would have been played in better leagues...
Jamshedpur FC sign Spanish midfielder Aitor Monroy
Jamshedpur FC continued their squad-building process with the addition of Spanish midfield player Aitor Monroy to their roster.
Previously, the 31-year-old has plied his trade in Europe for Romanian clubs CFR Cluj and Dinamo Bukarest, and Moldovan club FC Sheriff Tiraspol, with whom he won the Cupa Moldova in the 2014-15 season. Aitor also played for Israel Premier League club Macabbi Petah Tikva from 2015 to 2017, winning the Toto Cup in 2015-16.
He began his professional career with Atletico de Madrid’s ‘C’ team, later moving up the ranks to their ‘B’ team as a 19-year-old.
Aitor is the fifth foreign player signed to Jamshedpur FC's squad for the 2019-20 season, joining fellow new signings Noe Acosta and Piti, as well as captain Tiri and midfielder Memo who signed contract extensions. With over 200 appearances in clubs across Europe, the Spaniard’s presence will come in handy in midfield. He has great tactical skills to give balance to the team and can play in a double-pivot in front of the back four or as a pure central midfielder.
Jamshedpur FC CEO, Mr. Mukul Choudhari said, “In Aitor, we have signed a player who is a very bright talent in the game. He has good experience and wants to keep on growing and is hungry to play. We welcome him to the club and look forward to him joining us soon for pre-season.”
"I am thrilled to be joining Jamshedpur FC," exclaimed Aitor. "It is a great opportunity to play in a unique country like India and I am particularly looking forward to playing for the fans in Jamshedpur. I have heard a lot about them and their love for football.”
Aitor Monroy will be joining the rest of the squad when the club begins its pre-season preparations.
