As I said, I am not in the know about how the NE clubs operate and I am willing to be educated. If they tend to promote local talent to the exclusion of debarring players from other states, then that is definitely not done. The ideal criterion should not be 'locals first" but "talent first". My main point in that post was to contend the point that NE clubs are always content with losses and relegation.
However, I have a point to raise. We have time and again said on this forum that many of the big clubs of India, particularly EB and MB, have stop grooming local players and nowadays hanker after foreigners and star footballers. We know that over the years the NE clubs produced several talented players like Samuel Lalmuanpia, Boithang Haokip, Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Brandon, Chullova, Laldanmawia Ralte and others. Maybe they got better platforms in Kolkata, Bengaluru and Pune but some credit must also be given to the recruiters of these teams who identified these talents and groomed them in the initial stage. The gained recognition only be playing in the NE clubs after which they were snapped up by other I-League and ISL teams. So I guess grooming local players has some advantages though it should not come across as a deterrent to players from other states to play in NE clubs.
Aizwal won the title because they had quality mainland players like Albino Gomes,Ashutosh Metha,Jayesh Rane. And foreigners like Amna was on top of his form.
i guess grooming local talent is fine.... Shillong lajong has to give chances to best footballers in the region.... Aizwal has to give chances to best local talent... Then only there will be community participation, crowd funding and local support..... NE clubs doing that is fine for me... In case of no talent there, they will go for outsiders/foreigner like Vishal kaith who played as GK for shillong lajong or some foreign african striker at affordable rates
My problem is when bfc b or kbfc b or cfc b reserve teams & junior teams representating some regions with so much footballing talent doesn't give chances to local guys... They just go and hire from academies (some readymade success) .. The local lads in these regions will not give up their existing job for full time professionals unless they get some assurance of reasonable salary ..
There is one team in AIFF junior league called FCMadras playing with full of imported players... No idea why on earth they want to do this at U15 level... Probably want to win the regional league at U15 and then advertise for more student enrollments ...
